I have the current generation iPod Shuffle, and just today I noticed that the sound would very noticeably fluctuate from normal, to lower volume, to higher volume, to no bass, etc. What could be the problem? This has never happened to me before until now.

I've also noticed that when using my headphones, if I move the headphone connection on the iPod (auxiliary) and twist it just a little, the sound gets static and distorted for a second.

Try restoring the shuffle back to original status. Maybe, that'll help.

There could be some damage to the audio jack. I'd have the Genius take a look at it.

Ok, thanks for the reply. I'm thinking it's probably the headphones I use (Sony), because I used an auxiliary cable in the car today and it sounded fine.
