Same Price..

As someone else has said, I think the 8GB will definetly dissapear and the 16GB now has 2G 8GB price, and the 32GB has the 16GB price etc etc. The only way it could get more expensive, is if they put something that redifined the ipod touch in (Which I really dont think a just camera will do). To be honest, If it just has a camera, Im not really gonna care as I dont have much use for one.

I bet t would be a little more because they say there might be a camera and a mic.

Agree with this.

Apple will offer only three sizes: 16, 32 and 64GB.

We may see a camera and other features added.

But my guess is that the price points will be the same.

Killerxxx: That won't be smart, b/c it's bad business, why would you raise the price?:p

Sushi: I second your motion.:D

Its been the same for years and year now, where the previous maximum capacity is shuffled down the ranks and the rest of the line follows according, all in the previous price points usually stick around.

Where have you been Beric? I haven't seen you in quite some time.

I've been off in PC land, overclocking and building PC's and playing games. ;) I'm for sure getting an iPod touch when the update comes out though. But I'm not that excited about Macs right now. Waiting for a Macbook to be worthy of the upgrade.

Well I'm currently trying to sell my iPod Nano 3rd gen so that as soon as the 3rd gen iPod Touches come out, I can grab one! I don't see the need for two iPods.

I've got a 2nd gen 4GB nano. But I looked on eBay, and they're selling for $30. So I may just sell it to my sister for $10.

Even though the base model might be $229, do you think it might lack anything than more expensive ones kinda like the iPhone 3Gs having more additional features. So there might be 2 versions of the touch?
sorry but that seems pointless and not in the tradition of how apple do things, they didn't do two versions of the 3Gs, if your refering to the 8gig iPhone that was the iPhone 3G being sold with 8 gigs and the 3Gs being sold with 16 and 32 gig

def looking forward to finally getting a touch this fall. After i get that, i am getting uncharted 2 for xmas! i have all the cash saved up for a low end touch at 229. Can't wait.:D come on steve. gimmee my touch.

I expect to see more blurry camera pictures in the next upcoming couple of weeks and we'll probably hear about an event sometime a little before that. I am way excited for the new touch, not just because of the camera, that doesn't make much difference to me really, I'm just hoping for the capacity increase with better specs. Let see what the next couple of weeks bring. I'm willing to bet we see them in the next month.

Looking forward to the 3rd gen touch as well. :)

Funny thing is I work in retail at a "big" retail chain and today one of the guys that works in the electronics dept was talking about how they have not been getting in any nanos and a few others and figured some new ones were probably coming out. I mentioned how I was waiting and excited about the new ipod touch. He said "oh we keep getting plenty of these in so I do not think they are doing a new one. I pretty much looked at him like...:confused::confused::confused::confused:::eek::eek::eek:  and told him they were probably still getting old stock out and he did not know wth he was talking about LOL then mentioned how the app store was doing and that if he thinks they were not going to make a new one or discontinue it all together that he needed to get his head checked.
Then I told him we'll find out soon enough on the 9th ;)

i heard about getting rid of the 8 GB model.
here are prices:
16 GB: $199
32 GB: $299
64 GB: $399

Current 8 = $229. Expect a 16gb Touch for $229.
Current 16 = $299. Expect a 32gb Touch for $299.
Current 32 = $399.

Current Zune HD 16 = $219
Current Zune HD 32 = $289

I think MS picked those price points on the assumption Apple would simply drop Touch prices one level. MS wants the Zune HD to stay $10 under the Touch like their current flash Zunes are $10 under the Current Nano prices.
