i would try again to get it in DFU, and restore in itunes as you changed the host file
Ok, its still completely unusable, and if your not going to post anything actually constructive, dont post at allIt wont restore, turn on... NOTHING... Anyway, i just tried to restore it via redsn0w, and it gets passed the "waiting for iPod" stage, but now its stuck on "waiting for NAND" Not sure, but i think NAND is the memory, so, its a hardware issue, has anyone got any ideas on how to fix it?
It is in DFU, its constantly in DFU, and im trying now, its still stuck on: waiting for ipod... While the ipod displays the logo and the progress bar, with no progress![]()
Dont worry, tried that too! Ive been in all 3 DFU types and still nothing! Its obviously a hardware issue, as redsn0w says waiting for NAND... Now my question is, would this at all be covered by apple after the 1 year warranty, as it happened during the install of IOS 6.0.1

It isn't bricked. You cannot brick an iOS device.
I have always wondered if this was true...
What if you -theoretically- brought your device's battery down to where it only displayed the "Connect to charger" symbol, and then repeatedly pressed the home button so it would keep making the symbol appear therefore draining the battery even further. The battery would then get so low that it would not only cease displaying the symbol, it wouldn't even have enough power to recognize that the charger has been connected.
Ever consider it's a HARDWARE issue?
it's like you said a hardware problem, something went wrong with the memories!! [/B]

it says "waiting for NAND (Memory)"

Will restore any device back to default unless its knackered.
it stopped on "Waiting for NAND" and i think NAND is the memory,
*sigh*
No, itjw, I don't think they considered it was a hardware issue...
I just heard about this new thing called "sarcasm". It's relevant to situations like this. You should investigate further.
Same problem as OP. Tried running it dead, didn't work. Buttons or reset doesn't do anything, stays on a black screen. Plug in and hit restore and the iPod will freeze at the progress bar with iTunes saying "Waiting for iPod".
Basically I can't even get the Apple logo to come when resetting etc. Any ideas? Doesn't seems like iTunes can't access whatever chip the firmware is written to.
