This is why I think this poster is acting on emotion and not facts.

You could also say there is zero market for an mp3 player with [a camera] [a phone] [video][gps], etc. etc. etc. There's a BIG market for this.

No there is a market for it. You know why? Because thousands of people on
Macrumors have been speculating a camera/video for 2 years now. Now there is 1 person rambling about a 3G ipod which makes zero sense

No, because they already make a smaller device with 3G in it. It's called the iPhone. If you want 3G, they want you to buy an iPhone. They are not going to eat into their iPhone margins and chub up the Touch as would be necessary by cloning an iPhone and remove the calling ability and sell it you for $220 contract free. It's just not going to happen in Apple's entry in this form factor.

Who says it would sell for the same price? They could do a 2 tiered pricing schedule just like with the iPad. Who knows though, I could be arguing with Steve Jobs incognito...

It's $1,000/year for an iPhone. If the iPod Touch had the 3g option like the iPad, it would become a portable Internet phone and cost about one-third the cost of an iPhone. Would Apple be stupid to offer such a product? I don't think so. At this point in time they might think it would cut too much into iPhone sales, but if other companies start offering a product that can do this, which seems like only a matter of time, they will likely reciprocate.

I don't care. If you've got the money buy a damn iPhone or iPad. Cut a third of the cost? They cut the FULL price of monthly payments without data plan. I don't want to pay damn MONTHLY FEE and I'm sure thousands if not millions will either.

I am also a newbie to the iPod touch and have a question. What is the easiest way to delete apps on the iPod Touch? Is it through iTunes or can it be done right on the iPod Touch? I have several apps that I tried but do not really want it left on my iPod.

Hold your finger on any app for a few seconds until the icons begin to shake.
Tap the x in the upper left corner of the app.
When prompted, hit "Delete".

Note: This does not work with any pre-installed apps.

EDIT: You can also drag and drop apps this way onto other places on the homescreen or in folders.

Thanks for the help. That was real easy.

I know damn well not many people will want 3G on an iPod touch. I am not paying damn monthly for a product when there is already one just like it. God, some people are so obsessed with 3G. Just get the damn iPhone. Period.

Where I live you can pre-pay for data and just use the 3G functionality occasionally.
~ No contracts !
In America . . . do they ONLY have contracts to use a phone/3g sim ?

I also new to the whole Itouch experience - mine showsup tomorrow at the office and I have a couple of questions for out of the box experience.

1. I assume that I can use a standard usb charger to charge up the ipod with the usb cable. I have one for my phone and we are not allowed to plug devices into work computers.

2 I have an itunes account. Can I order apps on the itouch before I get home and hook it up to the PC that it will dock with for the first time?

3. Any other things to ponder for the first few hours that I have this in the office?

Thanks

#1. You can use the same usb connector charger that you have for your cell phone. This is what I am using and it works fine.

#2. I don't think you can even use the iPod Touch until it has been activated by docking it to your computer. So you might as well wait, unless you got it activated on another computer.

I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong about #2 answer.

Correct, the iPod touch needs to be "activated" by syncing with iTunes before you can do anything with it.

#2 no but you can download apps on your computer through itunes and it will load them onto your ipod the first time you sync it
