do not agree.

Apple signed up for having 75% of Samsung's flash. And 720p or 1080p recording will eat up space extremely quickly.. And memory always getting cheaper (especially with die shrink to 28nm/32nm.)
I hope you are right, but the fact of life is that Most people, including me, don't use up all of their space as it is right now. I don't need 64 GB even right now, and don't see myself using that much in he forseeable future. It would be cool to know that you will never need more space because you have too much, however, so I'm half hoping that they make the leap to a much higher amount of memory at a the same or even a lower price point. Personally all they need to do to make me happy is make one with a bigger screen, more RAM, a faster processor, and better cameras.

iPod Touch to be rebranded into iPad Mini

I think it would be wiser for Apple to rebrand touch as iPad Mini since there are no much of a room for significant improvement.

This isa terrible idea. The iPod touch is an iPod not an iPad, it may be like a smaller iPad but it will always be an iPod at heart.

Bad idea. It will use the iPod Touch screen resolution and ratios expanded up. Steve has said the iPad screen resolution and ratios.will not work well if it is shrunk down. The input areas for touching become too small, so it will not be called an iPad.
There is only a limited amount the touch screen can be expanded before it looks bad so it will have to be less than 6 inches. A 7 inch size is just not gonna happen. It's too small for iPad and too big for iPod Touch
See this blog post for a discussion of that.

Actually what makes it an iPod is the 3x2 aspect ratio, while the iPad has a 4x3 aspect ratio and different pixel resolution. That makes a big difference in the Apps that will run on it properly.
The iPod touch is at its heart a pocket game machine and media player.
The two are different and always will be as you say. One can't just say it can be relabeled as the other.

No ipad mini!

I agree. I would love a bigger screen, but the iPad mini? No. It just wouldn't make sense to try and market two really different (in just size alone, let alone aspect ratio and pricing) products as the same thing.

I think the iPod Touch 5 would be same like 4 but the their will be front camera and the megapixel range would increased for back camera. There will new features as always and more control over the games.

Apple will discontinue the Touch as it is stealing sales from their iPad.

1. Stevie thinks the aging population would gladly give up the tiny screen of the Touch for the larger screen of the iPad. We old folks like the larger screen since our aging eyes find it easier to read from.

2. If they keep the Touch expect a 3G/4G (data only) version. Apple likes the extra income they make from their iPhones and 3G iPads.

The iPhone 5 is being delayed to September, and I think it's going to be announced during the same event as the iPods.
Considering the rumours about the cheaper, prepaid iPhone, i think the iPod touch is going to see minor improvements (or no improvements at all), with a price tag of $199. A 3G (+GPS?) version with phone capabilities is being launched starting from $299 off-contract for 8GB. Meanwhile, the iPhone 5 is going to be launched as Apple's new flagship phone, with A5, 4", etc., with the same price tag of $199 on 2yr contract

Everything of this makes perfect sense to me. What do you think?

No. I think Apple is planning to make the iPod touch a killer game machine and with the A5 it can handle a larger screen and still do that better than anything else out there.. No 3G/GPS for the Touch as usual since it doesn't need it as a game machine.
I do agree the iPhone will roll out with the iPod touch this Fall but that might mean no major changes to the rest of the iPod line unless they combine the Touch and iPhone in one separate rollout from the iPods.

You don't really need the A5 to handle a larger screen, since the resolution is remaining the same and the A4 is doing just fine. They might (and probably will) put the A5 on iPT in order to mantain fragmentation to a minimum, but that would reduce differentiation with the iPh5, and they might not want that for the prepaid iPhone. And A5 on iPod + A4 on prepaid iPhone DOES NOT make sense.

How does it steal sales from iPad? If it is stealing sales from one of their devices doesn't that mean one less sale for their competitors in all fields?

I think a 3G/4G version is possible, although I don't know how they would do it proper and price it proper. My view is, the next one looks exactly like the current one with modest speed bumps under what the iPad 2 can do now (instead of 1Ghz, 800Ghz, has 512MB Ram) and the same exact memory choices as before. If Apple has yet to kill off their other iPod products I doubt this one is going anytime soon.

There is no way a product which maxes at $399 is stealing meaningful sales from a product which starts at $499. They are hardly in the same category anyway.

Here's what I think in recent light of new rumors on the iPhone (which the iPod touch takes a lot of stuff from):

  • slightly bigger screen (3.7" at least, maybe up to 4" (hopefully))
  • better cameras (obviously)
  • A5 for sure, less fragmentation, plus the iPod touch is marketed as a gaming device now
  • 512MB+ of RAM (for gaming)

Maybe/Hopefully/Probably Not

  • "monster phone" type screen (4.3")
  • new design (ditch the chrome scratchy back PLEASE!)
  • 32GB entry instead of 8GB or possibly 16GB entry

WAYYYY NO!

  • 3G/4G
  • 128 GB storage

The only big change I see is a white version. An FM/AM tuner and a stronger battery would be nice, but they're unlikely.
