I got the new iPT6 to replace my dead iPT5. I use it primarily as my daily camera. I take pictures and edit all day long. So far the battery is doing great. Lasting for a couple days under heavy picture taking and editing.
It absolutely is not. Specialists have access to the same information we have, and it is not limited edition.
Just stating what he said and showed me on his screen. He said to look at the icon next to it and that it indicated it was a limited addition. I honestly don't care one way or another but I can give you the Apple Store and the associates name if you wish to contact him.

Just went with what the Apple Store rep said and showed me on his screen. Even had an icon next to it indicating it was limited. I honestly don't care but if you would like I can give you the Apple Store location and name of the rep if you have questions about it.

Runnin the iPod Touch 6th gen on the latest Public Beta of iOS 9. Running the beta since it was first released for this new iPod touch. Here is my battery life. Pretty dang good for a beta!

And how much juice did you still have after all this?

Perhaps not limited, but constrained quantities. I regularly check Best Buy's site to see when they're in stores... I can order all colors for store delivery except the gold. It says, "unavailable". Maybe it's a Best Buy-only issue.

So not quite out of battery when I plugged it in before going to bed last night- had just gotten a 20% warning:

7 hours active usage, 41 hours standby.

This was my iPod's first battery cycle; it threw a '20% remaining' warning after only a few hours but stayed on for hours after:

This thing kicks ass.

I'm on my second IPT6, which I believe is a keeper. It had better be, because I'm giving away my IPT4 on Sunday.

Anyway, the battery life on the first one was so low that I exchanged it for another one. This one is doing much better, but when I examined my usage stats I found that one app was accounting for a high %. It's an old app that runs on IOS6, and I'm guessing the programmer is not a pro. Since I only use this app at the kitchen table I charge my IPT6 at the same time, and then I get a healthy battery life.

Is it possible that there's something about apps written for older Versions of IOS that makes them less efficient under IOS8?

How bad was the battery life on your first iPt6?

I charged and ran down my blue 128 about 5 times to make a real estimate on battery life. Usage was utube videos, news site videos, home movies downloading from the cloud etc.. I had the speaker on max volume with no ear buds. I like the screen bright so I have it set to about 75 percent. I worked it real hard trying to drain the battery as quickly as possible. I averaged between 5.5 and 6.25 hours per charge...I am satisfied with the battery life. I think I'll set it down for a few days as I am getting a turkey neck staring at the dang thing...

I think people just keeping monitoring the battery so much that they are likely using it in ways they won't normally use it, so the battery life seems bad. Heck I run mine at least 12 hours a day listening to music in combination with Facebook, email, and a few other apps. Perhaps if I did video all day long I'd feel differently, but this thing is too small for that in my estimation. I have a note 4 to watch video on if I really need too.

tried just running a video with 50% brightness, volume all the way down, barely made 4 hours , Don't have any other choice but to drive back to best buy and exchange, really annoying

Mine seems about the same as my 5th generation and I use it a lot to connect via Bluetooth in my car.

Exchanged for a new one, opened it up and had 80% charge to start, used it for a 2 hours and was already down under 20%, recharging now, not optimistic about this one either, i have hard time believing the claims of people getting 7 hours or more, brightness is at 50%, everything that can be turned off is other than wifi. Going from 80% to 20% in two hours makes this useless, the battery will be worn out in a year.

I am also planning to have an iPod Touch 6th Gen but I am still in doubt if I'll go for it. This thread could help me with it. Just need to follow it and know more details about the device.

I purchased an iPod Touch 6 last week and found the battery life to be less than stellar. It's discharging at a rapid rate when I download anything, streaming, or playing games. I would download several apps and some music and it would drop a couple percentages in a few minutes. It seems to be more frugal with battery life when playing music only. EDIT: I monitored the battery life and it drops 1% every 20 seconds when downloading an audible book. The download took about 4 minutes, so by the time it was done downloading I had 44% where I started at 58%.

I've tried discharging completely. I have also charged the battery about 10 times thus far. I reset everything and started new. My screen brightness is only 30%. I disabled location services, turned off mail push, turned off fitness tracking, bluetooth, wireless. The end result is the battery is still discharging quicker than I would like. I have not gotten more than 7 hours with frugal use.

I wished they would have made this IPT6 thicker by about 2 mm, which would have allowed for a higher capacity lithium battery, and leads to a greater user experience by not having to recharge so much. I like the iPod a great deal, but the battery life is making it difficult for me to enjoy the ownership experience knowing that I am limited by the amount of time I can spend with this device before charging it. I have an iPad Air and iPod Classic which both have battery life that I don't need to worry about.

So my question is whether this would be different if I exchange for a new iPod Touch? It might be difficult in my case because I have a custom engraving.

Terrible battery life. Never should have given up my iPad mini. This is a piece of junk. Can't afford an iPhone. Looks like I am left with this crap.

Do iPods still throw up "20% remaining" multiple times, depending on what you're doing with it?

I have a 5th Gen, and if you are saying that the battery life is the same as the 5th Gen, then it is bad. I don't really know why didn't they put a better battery on it. My 5th Gen after 2 and a half years, it is still running strong. I notice no difference in usage time than when I made a test when almost new, and, even though after getting an iPad and an iPhone, usage has dropped, I still have charged it a lot of times though. With normal usage, everything off except Wi-Fi,and brightness at 20%, my 5G barely reaches 6 hours of screen on time. And it has iOS 6 on it...

Sorry to hear that you're having difficulties with the iPT6. It is possible that there is a defect with your unit. A few have reported that exchanging theirs for another one has resolved the issue.

Have you tried disabling "background app refresh"? I'm not advocating that as a fix, but it might help identify if the drain is caused by an errant app.

This is disappointing. Was considering purchasing one but I will instead wait and upgrade my iPad mini when a new one comes out or to an Air 2. Even the battery life on my mini is just good, whereas on the iPad 2 I had before it, it was great. Apparently the Air 2 has even less battery life because of its thinness. I simply don't understand the mentality behind Apple's satisfaction with less battery life in exchange for thinness.

Battery life on the iPT6 that I purchased a few days ago is quite good. No formal testing but I'm quite pleased.

I was spoiled by my iPad 4 running iOS 6.x... upwards of 14 hours of battery life.

I agree with you on the fact that Apple has this pattern of going thin rather than a tad bit thicker to offer longer battery life. It just isn't something they are going to change regardless of what many of us think.

I have not had any real battery issues with my iPT6. I think sometimes people have unreal expectations without thinking about how they plan to use the device. It is no doubt if you plan to use this thing to play video for hours at a time you aren't going to get anymore than 4 or 5 hours period. However, if you use it to play some video, listen to music, email, Facebook, which are the basic things I use it for. I easily get a full day of use out of my battery with no problem. Most days I listen to at least 10 hours of music and sometimes up to 12 hours while connected via bluetooth to my dock in my office or in my car.

Sorry but i expect better battery life than a 5 year old touch 4. Don't think that is an unreal expectation. 4.5 hours with everything turned off is not good. Going from 80% to 20% in less than 2 hours is terrible, watching video or not.
