If Apple discontinued the 8g, and priced the 16g at $299 and the 32g at $399, would that be considered a price drop? Or just a re-alignment of its products?

Just a re-alignment. Since the products get updated instead of getting new prices. I see this happeneing with all other iPods around September. Those who want it now, in three months, or Thursday will likely be dissapointed.
