What about Email support? I don't wanna use webmail. They should have included the iphone email client!

Although I guess the iPhone is almost affordable now that the price dropped. If only I could get one to work with t-mobile! Hmm...

!!!

Woo-hoo!!!

Love the new ipod-touch!

er....one little problem - the price!

Jesus! I dont know about u U.S. guys - but not all us brits have money flowing like water!

£260 for 16gb is outreagous! £16.25 a GB!!!!

Apple live in coo-coo land! Honestly!

And what's the point of buying this product - when the iphone is released it will have all the same features + the phone - ummm let me see - spend £260 or wait for the iphone to come out on contract?

Negative comments about what?!?!?!?

I don't get where everyone is having the audacity to be sour pusses about today....

Today is the first time in the 6 years since the iPod's birth that I have been excited about all the iPod releases and news... ok maybe not so excited by the retarded Starbucks deal, but hey, can't win them all...

The iPod touch is a great thing for people that refuse to switch to AT&T and don't need a phone built in also.

The iPod classic is awesome for those who feel they still need the tactile use of the click wheel.

The iPod nano is great for those on a budget to still be able to enjoy video.

The iPod shuffle is still great for thos who are REALLY strapped for cash. Would have preferred that this line drop to $59 but oh well.

The iPhone dropping $200!!!! Holy Crap! That is awesome for people like me!

I can't believe that AAPL is down almost $6.00?!?!?!?!?! WTF?!?!?!

This was a great day!

My god you people are freakin' cry babies...

My iPod died about a month and a half ago and I was waiting for this before buying a new one. I had a 20GB 4G that died of HDD failure, so this is a not a disappointing press event at all.

+ No moving parts, so I don't have another drive failure
+ Only lose 4GB, but gain WiFi, web, etc.
+ Great interface

- I don't get to carry my entire music and video libraries. Boo-f***ing-hoo
- I spend 5 minutes moving new music/videos when I want something different. Oh, save me Jeebus!

Western society's need for instant gratification can be really f***king disgusting...

We need a 30GB+ iPod touch!!! Hopefully something comes soon to fill the gap from 16GB to 80Gb! I really want to combine my current iPod video and my Nokia 800 into one! I guess not yet!

iPod touch looks great.

Does it support Email?

This thing could be like the Nokia 7700 - a general phoneless tablet, especially if Apple start letting 3rd party development. The WIFI is great too - makes it very flexible for future expandability.

That is thin! So it's flash then right 'cause of its size and smallish capacity?

The new iPod Touch with 80GB storage and 5 hours of video playback...

The complaints are kind of dumb....i mean it's FLASH .....we know that flash tops out at around 16 gigs for anything affordable...why are you shocked?

If you want a frigging hard drive to Store tons of crap, go get one....

I can fit a butt load of music, TV shows and movies into 16 gigs. Plus it forces you to manage your library better, instead of just using the iPod as a 'dumping ground' for your whole collection.

For people like me, that most likely NEVER get the chance to own the iPhone (at least not in this decade - thanks Canadian cell phone companies:mad:) this thing is the best we'll get.

Why the anger?

I don't get all of these complaints. If you wanted an iPhone, this release just made it cheaper and exposed that by Xmas there will be a new 16 GB iPhone model.

If you wanted a touch screen iPod, you can now have one. HD's SUCK! I've had two iPods die, not because the case sucks, not because the software caused issues, but because hard drives are the highest failing electronic device/component available today.

Why do many people have a negative perception of the iPod? Perhaps because it's trendy, but more often than not because they or someone they know had one die on them. Slower access time to files, moving components, and failure, plain and simple.

Apple's moving to the future with their iPod line. The iPod classic is for those people who want more capacity but are willing to accept the risk of purchasing a hard drive based player.

Those of you who aren't willing to accept that in order to move forward Apple must start fresh... well you're clueless, and annoying... and probably not capable of thinking beyond your own selfish noses. Get a grip!

I can live without having all my music on my iPod. And when was the last time I wanted photos on it? Huzzah for movies!

I'm going on 4 plane trips in the next 2 months, so I just ordered me a 16GB one. Ships Sept. 28 and delivered by Oct 2-4 ... my first flight of the season is Oct. 7.

included Stand?

Anyone else notice the included stand in the ipod touch? Its on one of the gallery pictures too. Wonder if that will work on the iphone?

This was a great day!

Well the entire market is down today by quite a bit and I'm checking all of my stocks and they all dropped around the same time the market did which is the same time that Apple started its plunge so I think its more of a US economy sucking rather than market reaction to the announcements today.

I mean anybody living in the real world knows that today's announcements kicked ass for consumers yet still insures that Apple (which is still a business) will be able to still maintain consumer interest in its different products. But then again I think the majority of people on these forums don't understand how the real world and businesses work so brace yourself for more nonsense and useless whinning and bitching...

I really, really hope the next iPhone OS X update will enable international keyboard, 'cause the iPod touch tech spec says it can input non-English languages !

Even if not, I guess I can transplant software from iPod Touch to iPhone :)

I don't know about that... if the iPhone was bumped up to 16GB, it would be the same storage as the iPod Touch and I don't see them dropping the price of that before the holidays.

Not to mention the $200 drop is more than enough to carry iPhone sales through Christmas.

I don't think we'll see any changes to the iPod lineup until Macworld at the earliest, and I don't think I'm going out on much of a limb by saying so...

typical Apple fanboys at macrumors.com.....always cry about something.

i like this iPod Touch except for a couple things I wish it included.....it's missing some of the widgets that are included in iPhone such as maps, stocks and weathers....technically i can still get those info but i wish it just had the widgets.

and i wish it had more storage for $399 version....

and i also wished hotspot was free not just for iTunes but for browsing as well but maybe i am asking too much there.

my question is whether someone will find a way to port some of the widgets from iPhone to iPod Touch.

Haha wow. With the iPhone 8GB at $399 what's the point of the iPhone Touch?

Because I can actually buy one. iPhones aren't actually available yet in certain places, such as any country that's not the USA :)

I have to say, the iPod Touch is very compelling. I don't think I currently use more than 4-5 gigs on my 30 gig iPod, so even the 8 gig model is a step up for me.

Ha! there's always a "bummer"

If this toy were 60 gb at least, then all negative comments would be focused on...
The lack of 802.11n or whatever it is, or...
The lack of gorgle maps, or...
The tiny little app thingy that the iPhone has and for 'crying out loud" is not in the iPT.

To those who are going to buy it... enjoy.

I have a 3G 40GB ipod. It holds every single song I own. I'm supposed to DOWNGRADE to 16GB, not have all my music with me so i can watch a couple of movies?

This is just horrible.

THIS is the deal breaker.

Sure others might complain about lack of this or that, but they would still buy it. But this complete lack of capacity will keep a majority of ipod users from buying it. Stick an 80GB drive in the back, make it twice as thick, it's still no thicker than my 3G ipod. Then we'll buy it, no complaints.
