Yeah, mine is like that too, when you view it directly (like you're supposed to with LCD screens.) You can minimize the effect by tilting the screen, but then you start to lose overall image quality (as happens with off-axis viewing of LCD screens.) Plus it's just annoying to have to watch all video at an angle, or even have to be cognizant of viewing angle when you watch something.

I don't think anyone can conclude anything at this point about what percentage of units are affected. The quality of the unit you get makes a big difference on perception as well. If you get a bad unit, then read about all these other people with bad units, you really start to wonder what the heck is going on.

It seems to me that there are a significant number of people with bad screens, but that could mean 1 in 10, 5 in 10, or 9 of ten- no one really knows. Even a 10% defect rate would be significant. But at the end of the day, what is more important than defect rate is how Apple deals with it. And we need to wait a few days for all of this to sort itself out. It does little good to overreact in either direction right now ("some people are way too picky and obsessive-compulsive" or "some people are morons who don't notice", etc.)

Wow, that is a terrible looking screen, and you should return it, that is UNACCEPTABLE. Please remember I was not attacking you personally, I was just pointing out that it isn't right to make up numbers about an issue. I never denied that there are some units that have this issue. I was only stating that I was lucky to have a good working unit.

BTW, what movie is that, I can't even make that out. I hope you get this issue sorted out, it is a beautiful device and I am sure you will get a lot of enjoyment out of it, once everything is cleared up.

Excellent point, it is unwise to jump to any conclusions right now. I am interested in seeing how Apple will deal with this, and I do feel for those who are having this issue as I am sure it is maddening. I am pulling for you and I have faith that Apple will make this right.
