I am sure there will be an iPod Touch coming out along with the 6th gen iPhone. As usual, the iPod Touch will continue to be an entry-level iOS device serving as an iPhone-substitute (drug :)) for teenagers who will switch to the "real thing" once they've had enough, need more, or "grow-up".

I guess :apple: doesn't want to reveal too much about the upcoming 6th iPhone by mentioning details about the next-gen iPod Touch - after all these two have always shared a lot.

Apple has always been tight lipped about upcoming products. The iPod Touch is here to stay at least for a few more years. Don't know why I am bothering to reply to your post but it is so far out into space, I felt compelled. The iPod Touch has never been an entry level device - it's original purpose was music. Over the years the Touch has morphed into something larger than life: a true companion for road warriors. Teenagers, at least the ones I see, own cell phones. They can't get an account with ATT or Verizon until they're of legal age so most of the younger ones will not own an iPhone unless thru an adult accomplice. The iPod Touch 4G can be used as a phone for those who don't wish to pay for cell service. It works exceedingly well as a phone actually.

I guess you are so inexperienced in life and technology you felt you had to say the things you did. One day you, too, will "grow up."

I want a new iPod Touch. I have kids in their 20s. I do not want an iPhone and the monthly service and data fees. I also do not want to give up my T-mobile service.

I have had an iPod Touch for years and am on my 3rd one.

Why would having kids in their 20's cause you to want a new iPod Touch? Are you paying for their cellphones?!

Monthly service and data fees for a prepaid iPhone can be less than or the same as a typical smartphone. I pay $45/month for StraightTalk, I'll be getting my wife a prepaid iPhone w/VirginMobile for $30/month. Our household has saved THOUSANDS of dollars over the years going with prepaid plans and we have service comparable to the contract plans we used to have.

I have choices only of ATT and Verizon. I live in a rural area so there is a problem.

I have phone for me and wife, plus two of my kids. If I have to pay $30 for data + another $35 for basic plan adds up.

I am actually pretty confident that the iPod Touch will get a upgrade this year, what I'm scared for is the removal of the iPod Classic.

I've always thought that the Classic will be removed when the iPod touch comes with 128 GB of storage. The only reason why the Classic is still being sold is for people who want 100+ GB of storage on their iPod, and once the touch gets that, there will be no reason for the Classic to hang around.
