$200 dollar gift seems rather demanding for Christmas, plus it wouldn't matter - I would be paying for it, and frankly, I have an envelope by my bed with 200 dollars in it anyways. It's just that before my family came to America, we lived in a poor country in Europe (poverty) and our ways of saving money have stayed with us. My mom still uses $.50 coupons (even though she DEFINITELY doesn't need to) and throwing away $200 is a big deal for her. Plus, I've been wanting a laptop for like three years now, so I will be getting a 13" MacBook Pro when that model gets updated (which she will pay for), so asking it as a gift will not work out.

I'm thinking of just approaching her in way that would... slowly unravel the entire circumstances ("So ... 2 weeks ago, when I was in a rush to get to class on time ... etc," "and now that I don't have one, I really would need one because a new semester is... etc").

Any other suggestions?

Btw, thanks for being quick about responding, it's nice to be on forums that are actually responsive!

If you plan on getting a next generation MacBook Pro 13", then you should get it during the summer "Back to School" promotions. You get a free iPod Touch with your Mac.

The only problem about this would be that it would be outdated, since the new iPod Touches would be out directly afterwards, and the fact that you get the lowest iPod Touch configuration free (8GB, I think.), but again, it's free.
