LEAVE OFF THE IPOD, dont turn anything on till yur sure its dry. and dont use ****ing rice thats ridiculous....if the MOISTURE is INSIDE THE IPOD the rice wont be able to contact it in order to absorb it, Grade one sciencee bish. anyhow. PUT THE IPOD UNDER the lamp....then let it chill and get hot....not too too close but like 8 inches from bulb....just under it...anyhow if there is alot of water try sucking from the port on the bottom..with ur mouth idiot. heat willl help.

As i am a big fan of electronics and gadgets of all sorts i often waste money on items of such, yet as a drunk i often spill or knock things over onto these items....so i know...

I actually just had something similar happen to me about 10 minutes ago and i came online to figure out how to fix it...I could still use the touch screen and the volume, but the backlight would not come on and the screen was dim. So, i sucked on the bottom of the ipod and literally 10 seconds later, the light started to come on..it was very faint but the longer i did this, the brighter the screen got. and now it works perfectly fine!

Yesterday my I pod touch fell in the pool and it worked fine but today it won't turn on is it dead???? What do I do???

Probably would be best to start a separate thread for this matter. FWIW though, your mistake was probably attempting to use it after the incident. It's not a 100%, but that could very well have damaged it further.
