Hi all

Ok i dropped my ipod touch for the first time in 2 years at the gym and the screen went black. Would not turn on at all. I took it to the apple store where they put it into recovery mode and claimed It wasbroke and they could sell me a refurbed one for 100 bucks. I was like great customer service...charge me to rebuy someone else's broken ipod. I went home looked up a bunch of you tube videos and found out about blackrain. Used it and all was well everything worked great until i powered down.
When i turned it back on the same issue the apple icon makes a brief appearance then everything goes black. Is anyone having this issue? I am so freggin annoyed that apple is not just fixing customers ipods.

try holding down the home button while plugging your ipod into the computer. i did this on my cousin's ipod when it showed the apple logo for a couple second then turned off, now it works great!

Interesting topic, Really nice information about that, I got same problem with my itouch and turn off my itouch, Here are very nice tips and advice, that great helpful me, thanks for sharing this useful information. Lovely post.

try and do this:

1. start itunes.

2. plug the ipod into your computer

3. hold the power (on top) and home (on front) buttons for a few seconds.

the ipod should power up, and if if is screwed up, will be in recovery mode... from there itunes will tell you that it finds your ipod in that mode, and needs to restore it.

just click restore, sit back and it should work again.

did you hack it at all?

if you did not hack it, and that doesnt work, call applecare and see what they say. maybe it is faulty?

still, from my experience with my friends ipod that i made 100% unusable, there is a way to restore even the most broken ipod as long as it has a battery charge.
i suspect a small portion of the memory is dedicated to keeping emergency boot files that allowe you to restore, no matter how bad things get.

Vegas Steven you are awesome! I did what you said to and my brand new ipod, which I thought broke on me, now works perfectly!

Plzzz help me:(

hey idk wht to do. my ipod touch 4g froze earlier and i used these tips to unfreeze it but i wanted to restore the origional settings just to b sure everything was ok, now my laptop and my ipod r stuck, my ipod is saying to connect it to itunes but its already connected and my laptop is saying tht its verifying the ipod restore with apple…its been like this for about 3an hour now. ive tried to reset it twice. is there any way u could help me???

o_o

today my itouch stopped working. I was using it, closed it, put it in it's case in my purse. When I went to open it back again, it never did. My battery wasn't down, I didn't crush it or drop it. It was never hacked or altered in any way. I pluged it in my computer, but it doesn't do anything. I tried holding power and pressing home at the same time, but still nothing.

... is it dead forever ?

that SAME thing happened to me, except:apple: it was in my pocket, and it's a brand new 4G i got for Christmas...

Help

My ipod touch crashed when i tried to delete cydia now when i try to reboot it, it starts rebooting the stops and shuts off/recrashes what do i do??

major fault.

You would think that Apple would fix this major problem. I have a ipod Touch 4th generation and it just did the exact same thing to me. I wasn't even touching it, let alone messing with it. I think we should really take this up with Apple so they can make an update for the ipod and make this problem not that much of a problem. The information here was very helpful though. thank you everyone for your help! :D

The same thing happened to me recently. I called apple support and they helped me a lot. Just plug it in to your computer or a wall charger and hold down the home and power button at the same time for 5-10 seconds. Hope this helps you like it helped me. :apple:

this helped me too xx thanks

Read This Before Restoring

Just to let everyone know, When it says you need you restore your ipod, click cancel or whatever, and unplug your ipod, and let the plug with iTunes symbol dissapear, then turn on normally. this should make it go to your lock screen normally. this worked for me and i just thought people should know that they don't need to restore.

I did do all those steps, plugging in, holding down, but nothing, NOTHING will work. My iPod has never been like this. It is Jailbroken, but now that i know the cost, i will never do it again. plase help me. I was putting erase all content and setting, it started rebooting, took a while to do so, and it finished. when it was done, it took me to the apple logo, and the little circle went loading and loading for about 30 seconds. then it suddenly stopped, and my ipod IS stuck on the apple logo, with the little loading sign stuck. oh please help me. itunes doesn't recognize it, and after about 30 minutes, it reset automatically, i mean it turns of and on... but then it just get stuck again. i really need help urgent. my email is sour.ragnarok@gmail.com i really need tones of help, if someone is so nice and kind to help me with this :(

you might be stuck in a DFU mode or just looped try the following a few times to see if this helps. Since you are using a PC and you might have other conditions try the following steps if this does not work PM and I will set up a web session and try to help you face to face.

Thank you,

Hold the power and home buttons down (the iPod will power off after 10 seconds, but keep holding those buttons down)
After the iPod powers off, release the power button (but keep holding the home button down)
After a couple more seconds, you should hear that magical “ding dong” that means the iPod is coming back alive, and that Windows has detected it. You may even see a little “New hardware” popup in Windows. It is now safe to release the home button, and your iPod is in DFU mode.
Now iTunes will see it as a DFU mode iPod and should ask you to automatically restore its firmware.

Thank U So Much My iPod Has Been Like This For The Past Few Weeks And Now It Works. Thanks So Much :apple:
