I absolutely love my iPod Touch 4 - it's the main reason I still haven't upgraded to a smart phone yet. Even better that I received it as a gift from my work colleagues :)

My dumb phone costs me £5 a month and MiFi comes at a reasonable £10 for 1GB data. I carry a bag most of the time so no issues with carrying all 3 devices. When I'm out for drinks etc, I don't like the idea of taking an expensive phone with me anyway so happy with the current set up. Don't need web access when I'm out drinking anyway so one less expensive item to lose.

Not really keen on carrying an iPod Touch running or cycling so my iPod Shuffle does the trick plus it weighs next to nothing rather than strapping it on my arm like most do with an iPhone or iPod Touch.

I have a 4th Generation and an iPhone 3GS (I got the iPhone off my brother after the iPod and I do not plan to get another iPhone). I use my iPod touch every day for music and videos on the train as well as apps. However if I was you I would wait until they release a new one at this point (probably september). Unless you can not wait, the iPod touch 4th Gen is still a really nice device.

"iPam"

An advantage iPad has over the iPod Touch is more screen room for surfing the net, but it's not as portable as the Touch.

What I want is an "iPam" that is holdable in one hand and serves as a good reader for short articles and mail.

This "iPam" may replace the regular GPS and even the Kindle junior. Well, Apple is known for putting more things in one device.

Yes, if you don't want to pay$$$ for a service plan.

iPod touches and iPods themselves are kinda going out of style.

I suppose, but I am so rarely without Wifi access I can't justify the service plan.
I have an iTouch and a prepaid cheapo flip phone that ends up costing me $5 a month or so.

If I could buy the iPhone unlocked and get prepaid voice only service for it, I totally would. But the current scheme just makes the iTouch more appealing for me.

ipod nanos yes

but the ipod touch no, the ipod touch especially the newer generations are status symbols like the iphone 4.
iPad and iphone are ahead because they have higher build prices and are higher level devices.

The people who do not want to be bined to a contract buys an ipod touch. I see many people having ipod touches to complement their dumb phones.

Are you serious? They aren't status symbols, they simply can do so many more things than normal iPods and phones so that's why people like them so much.

I have all three iPad iPod touch and android and I use them all constantly I use my classic to hold my entire library and touch to listen to podcasts etc from my home dock I also sometime,es take my touch on trips or train and tether from my smart phone I find uses for all my gadgets so r are just fine buying an iPod u will use it

I have a tough 3g and use it mostly for listening to music and podcasts while driving. Seriously considering an iPad for everyday use when I don't want to carry my Macbook. My 7-year old nieces would be glad to relieve me of the iPod (and they are more adept at using it for games). It all comes down to $.

I have a second generation iPod touch that I have had for a couple of years. I use it every day. It is a very useful tool for me. I keep it in my purse and it goes with me everywhere.

My grandkids love all the games on it. They always want to play with my ipod every time I am with them. It was definitely money well spent.
