Could the earlier iPod mini's transfer over firewire or have they always been USB2.0?

None of the new models come with Firewire, although they do support it.

ALL iPods now come with USB 2.0 cables.

Lame.

Is Apple giving up on Firewire?

Geebus. Not a biggy, but man.

UK Store down again! This is SO pissing me off!

I'm gutted about the new blue. Now I'm gonna have to get a silver one.

Awesome price though, £155 with education discount for 6GB (by the way all you US people, that's $310, it's $340 without...man we get ripped).

EDIT: It's back. Ordered. Probably won't receive until Monday though (that's the problem with midweek releases I guess).

Are the colors different??

It seems like they just REMOVED colors (the gold....who bought that anyway). Is the green the same shade? The blue seems different but that's it.

I must admit. I do like how the buttons have the color now. Plus the new vibrancy of the colors is lovely. Now even the green is looking tempting now it's not all dark and yucky.

Well the rumours were pretty wrong...

Removing Gold was probably sensible, although I hate the new blue. Way too bright for me.

I have to say that the thing I wanted more than anything was better battery, and 18 hours is awesome :D

Any one notice the new armband for the ipod mini five colours including orange maybe there is a colour screen orange mini coming

maybe just wishfull thinking

20 Gb iPod comes with Firewire cable. At least in the UK!

The Ozi prices are great but I am a bit perturd by no bluetooth. If I buy a nice shinny 30 or 60 gig for all my music, photos and hard disk files, will it be superceeded by 5G in July...

£139.00 (remove VAT) -> £118.30 -> (to US dollars) $225
£169 -> £144 -> $273
£155 -> £132 -> $251

So a $26 or a $24 difference. Still too much in my opinion, but within acceptable boundaries. Also it has only been the past couple of days that the dollar has sunk to 1.9, it was more like 1.85 or something IIRC.

My thoughts exactly plus surprisingly the 30gb is 4.3mm thicker than the 20 gb!!

Any thoughts on the orang armband.

Damn...

Now that really makes my 4G 40Gb look s**t. Ten quid more buys me a 60Gb iPod Photo. At least I've had it a while. Gotta hand it to Apple - new prices are competitive, particularly taking into account the quality of the machine.

Maybe iGary meant they all come with USB2.0 cables rather than they all don't have firewire cables anymore. Because the US site has firewire cable with 20GB iPod as well.
Or maybe he just messed up :D

From Apple UK site..re iPod Photo:-

In the Box
- iPod photo 30GB or 60GB
- Earbud headphones
- AC adapter
- USB 2.0 cable
- Getting Started guide
- CD with iTunes for Mac and Windows and electronic documentation

1)FireWire cable sold separately

Seems odd that standard 20gig has cable included, but more expensive iphot model doesn't. Hmmn, Apple at it again?!"?!?!?!

What I'm more surprised at is that nobody's noticed that the iPod Photos no longer come with the AV cable or AV dock...

So when you count the cost of those in, they're probably not all that much cheaper than before...

It seems to be a very nice worthwhile update. Apple is doing what's needed to keep ahead of the competition.

Yes but not so far ahead that the close their update "road map" looks like they are leaving themselves room to bump again shortly if needed to keep the line fresh.

Any predictions as to the next round of updates? It's time the regular iPods get an update, perhaps color screen but at the same price point. Since the shuffles were introduced in January, perhaps we can see minor updates at WWDC.

Don't expect updates for a while yet.

Taking the 40GB out WAS the update to the classic range. The Photos will the classic iPods place in time.
