The one thing I am not loving about the Iris is the feel... it just feels so different from the glass screen and less smooth than I remember the Powersupport feeling on the iPhone 4. I am trying to get used to it because it makes the Retina display look awesome. I just wish that it felt as smooth as the Powersupport.

I noticed the same thing right off the bat and it bothered me as well. But it's now MUCH smoother than it was initially and is comparable, if not actually smoother, than the PS. That could be attributed to 2 things - (1) the week of heavy use somehow had a slight polishing effect on the surface, or (2) on the 2nd day I applied some car detailer I had laying around (this one: http://www.meguiars.com/en/automotive/products/g14422-meguiars-ultimate-quik-detailertrade/) to the screen which immediately improved the feel, although I have a hard time believing that any coating that the detailer left on the screen is still remaining after a wek.

so i had the same power support film on my 4s for more than a year. due to the scratches, i finally decided to replace it with an iris - got it yesterday.

i think it's terrible. maybe it's just me, but i don't like seeing my face reflected in my phone's screen when i'm using it - the exact reason i want a film on my iphone in the first place.

so i'm not sure what exactly the purpose of this iris film is.

the power support film i think is the perfect balance of reducing reflection while allowing transmission of the screen image. though anecdotal, in my experience of comparing my girlfriend's 4s without the power support film next to mine (with ps film), i could see no tangible difference that would deem the ps film as 'degrading' the screen quality.

i included an image of my 4s with iris film on top of my iPad, which has a power support film. i didn't clean either before taking the quick pic. it is to illustrate the reflective properties of the two.

How's the fingerprints?

i haven't noticed - which is to say, it's not a concern. once you begin handling any film, the film quickly accumulates a base layer of oil, and from then on, there's a consistency.

the real issue is the awful reflectiveness of this iris film. when your using it in contrasty lighting, the reflections are very distracting. when you're in a dimly lit room, it doesn't matter.

the ps film is so great at 'evening out' and diffusing the contrasty reflections. that's why it's the best. knowing what i know now, i'll only buy power support.

This is the first screen protector I have ever managed to get on perfect, and it looks great. Also the anti glare works well, but you need to give the screen a good clean with the supplied cloth initially.

I give it 9/10.

hi all, I'd previously posted concerning my recently-acquired iris film for my 4s... I made clear my dislike of this belkin film - to the amusement that so many others give it rave reviews.

despite not liking the belkin iris, I decided to reluctantly stick with it until I upgrade to the yet-to-be released iphone later this year. but I experienced a hiccup yesterday that I think will drive me back to a power support film sooner rather than later. I was on a grocery run, and I had my phone in my front pocket with my keys while shopping. in less than ten minutes, my keys scratched the iris film fairly well. I should point out that I'm fairly careful with my phones, and by no means is putting a phone in the same pocket as you keys something that is considered rough. my power support films have taken way more abuse and come away unblemished. I'm just amazed at how delicate these iris film are. by contrast, my last ps film last one & half years and had only one scratch/gouge.

i've included a pic of the scratches - they are many and they are not superficial. and they are distracting and warrant an imminent film change.

I should also point out that i'm not pro power support film - indeed if there is another film out there that provides a durable, matte finish, then i'm game. i'm just not seeing the pros of a belkin iris when compared to the iphone's gorilla glass. i also don't want to be seen as a hater. rather, i think it's important to communicate the characteristics and differences between films since they cannot be handled and viewed at stores.

I love this protector but I do agree it can scratch pretty easily if it comes in contact with other things such as keys but I think that kind of comes with the territory unless your using one of those glass screen protectors.

does anyone have the trick to getting this screen protector off the actual phone? the cut outs are so precise i cant get under any of the edges. Any help would be appreciated.

Some kind of sticky tape on a corner and lift. Scotch tape will work. I hate using my nail, I'm afraid of cutting under my nail.

Having the same issue! i have tried all sorts of tape and it is impossible to remove!

Just keep trying with the tape. Lay down a piece of tape on a corner of the protector and press firmly. Really firmly with your thumb. Then try lifting. If it doesn't work try another piece of tape. I wouldn't recommend using anything other than tape.

Try a piece of gum. Let it try on a corner of the protector. Then pull up. I just though of it:)

I found that a piece of printer paper can be wedged under the film, allowing it to be lifted up.

I for one Not happy with it at all, I really, really miss my power support.
+ very clear,
- not really anti glare, as you see on the pictures posted by someone else, the light reflection.
- scratches in you pocket like crazy, my wife's power support anti glare 4S over 1 yearly old still looks good. I'm in my second one as it comes in pack of 2.
- you still see finger prints, again power support does much better job at this.
In the end, you can't have clarity and all the good things that Power Support brings, u personally will give a little of clarity but would take good anti glare that Power Support brings.

, great accessory, i'm curious to see the results, i'm definitely gonna go to my apple store to check this thing out.

When I got my i5 replaced, I wanted to get a film for my screen and I expected power support but this was in the Genius' hands instead. I was first skeptical but having had it for a while now, I like it. I had power support for the longest time and can only remember it for being making my screen more fuzzy, so I cannot really give a direct comparison.

But I think for people who aren't really nitpicky about this sort of thing, I think the film will work out just fine. I wanted a film to protect my screen from scratches, and it's been doing that just fine. It's very smooth and the reflection is perhaps a tad more distracting than power support, but I think the clarity of the Iris is better too. I have 1 tiny scratch on the film and it's fine, I accept that it'll get scratched up from time to time from daily use. And as long as it's the film getting scratched and not my phone, I'm perfectly fine with a scratch here and there. :)

I just picked up some extra and they now have cutouts similar to the power support protectors and they have a much better clarity and feel! Not a bit of grain. They almost remind me if anti glare and crystal protectors had a baby lol.

Yep, the new stock in Apple stores is definitely different from a cutout perspective. Not sure they improved the actual product though.

I had the original with the elongated cutouts and I have the new ones with the power support type cutouts and the new ones to me at least have a different feel and almost no grain compared to the original.

I couldn't agree more! For some folks this will not present a problem...my wife just looks at me like I'm crazy as she thinks hers feels silky smooth. For me, it's difficult to explain...but it's sort of a rough feeling that is unpleasant. Sort of like fingernails on a blackboard and I find myself not wanting to swipe because of the sensation. I'm just hoping I'll getting used to it.

All this said, it's one beautiful screen protector and nothing comes close to protecting your display and not detracting from the retina display. I just wish it was as smooth as the old Power Support protectors Apple used to sell before these.

I clean the screen protector about once a week with a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol to get all the finger grease off.

The cleaning has smoothed the surface of the plastic film and eliminated a lot if the rough texture. No loss in clarity as far as I can tell.
