If one thinks about it, it is almost amazing how much storage is possible on such tiny chips.i still think back to my first computer that had 4Gs of storage. Others here I'm sure had computers that only had a few hundred meg's

PowerMac 7200 in 1996 (my first Mac)...500MBs HD and I paid about $400 for 48 MBs or ram. I was in college back then and everyone was jealous cause I had so much ram :D

Congrats on twin . I wish Apple started out with 64 gb. You know. Something useful for one. Like you paying Lots of money for any phone. Give us 64 to start then double it.

Sounds like they are money hungry selfish sometimes I'm sorry. Yah. Have fun with paying for cloud services and all that stuff. Come on Apple.... show us some respect after all your nothing without customers

The only thing Apple loves about us, is our wallet. Nothing more, nothing less.

You guys know the 6S at 64GB was 749 and now the 7 at 128GB is...wait for it...gasp! 749

Apple didn't raise the price, they simply doubled your storage for the same price.

That's almost like taking the price of the phone and lowering it because if a 64 GB was available, it would be at a less cost of 749.

Which is unheard of. Besides everlane lowering the price of their cashmere sweaters because the price of that material has gone down...what other company does this? Have you even heard of everlane before today?

While we are on this, apple is forcing folks to grab a higher GB because the software updates and the app updates as well as the photos being taken are....taking more room.

64 may be enough for you now, about two months in, but a lot can happen in the months before the new iPhone release and that is IF you decide to. Some folks hang onto their phones for two years, if not three. (The horror I know).

OMG that's so cool!!!!!! It's like I'm getting more for less. But 749... is not for the plus that's extra 100. My phone and my wife phones cost us about 2000 dollars

The hottest combination appears to be 128GB in Jet Black, it's sold out for both the 7 & 7+, no new stock until November.
Nah. Just because Jet Black 128GB is supply-constrained doesn't automatically mean it's the model that sells the most.

I previously had a 64gb 6s and had 10 free gbs decided to get a 128gb plus because 32gb wouldn't be enough. Now I have like 97gb of free space. I wish they would of kept the 64gb.

Scratching my head on complaints like this.

Before Apple had the following:
  • Reg 16GB: $650
  • Reg 64GB: $750
  • Reg 128GB: $850
  • Plus 16GB: $750
  • Plus 64GB: $850
  • Plus 128GB: $950

Now they have this:
  • Reg 32GB: $650
  • Reg 128GB: $750
  • Reg 256GB: $850
  • Plus 32GB: $750
  • Plus 128GB: $850
  • Plus 256GB: $950

So now, you get double the storage at previous price points. If Apple had increased iPhone pricing similar to what they did with the iPad Pro 9.7 launch, I could understand. I just don't get why people are complaining about getting more storage for the same price.

You realize this happens with tech all the time, right? I bought an 80GB HDD years ago for $100 and now, I can buy 4TB for the same price. 1TB SSDs used to go for $600-700 a couple years back and now they're just $200-400. Apple was actually long overdue on storage upgrades for their entry-level model at least.

The sweet spot is the 128gb. This phone has 4K video, 12mp camera, and apps are huge these days. 32gb is the new 16. You'll soon be out of space.

I feel like people fail to realize this. The camera is getting better so you need more space for pictures. 128 seems excessive now, just wait until you have a year of photos and videos stored on the phone.

Lol ikr. And when you sell it brings up the value rather than 32 gb

lol I guess I'm not much of a tech person but that makes sense.

I've only ever brought apple for the ease of use & intuitive (to me) OS... the design or fashionable aspect pretty much sealed the deal for me... so in a lot of ways I still think of them being more design in aesthetics then cutting edge forward tech.

I'm with those who think 32GB is the most popular. That was the model I intended to go with (64GB is actually the sweet spot for me). But upon arriving at my local Apple Store, they sold out of the 32GB gold colors since I last time I checked iStockNow that morning. Ultimately I went with 128GB as I the payment amount was not going to change on IUP from the 64GB 6s I turned in.

Plus, the extra memory will definitely come in handy next year on our honeymoon since I'll be taking a lot of images and video with my iPhone.

I think it depends on the area.

In mine, there's always 32. 128 is most popular, followed by 256.

Those who generally get 32 are trying to be more price conscious.

Not in the UK. Last year I paid £789 for my 128GB 6S plus and this year I paid £819 for the 128GB 7 plus.

I think this probably has more to do with foreign exchange rates post-Brexit rather than an intended price increase on Apple's part.

One thing to keep in mind, just because the 128GB and 256GB models are out of stock doesn't mean they're the most popular. More likely than not, they just have lower supply.

For example, if a store received supply of 100x 32GB, 20x 128GB and 10x 256GB, and demand was 80x 32GB, 30x 128GB and 15x 256GB, that still makes 32GB the most popular model even if the 128GB and 256GB models going out of stock might make them seem more in demand.

I know it's due to Brexit but it still sucks.

I just picked up a MB 256 Verizon 7 plus from Verizon in stock . Free over night shipping. Plus got 450.00 for trading in my old iPhone 6. If I wanted 128gb would have to wait till 12/7 32 gb would have to wait till 11/23. It was worth paying extra 100 for 256 gb model. Apple stores seem to get more of 256 models then other models. As others have reported supply seems to be getting worse for 7 plus models. As Samsung has axed note 7. It has made even tougher to get one . Mine was made in week 40 from factory 39 where ever that is in China.

16GB was the most popular in the past b.c it is the least expensive, so it makes sense 32GB would take its place.

Apple always prices their storage options the same way.

32 GB: The cheapest (and most popular) option that will serve the masses well. It's enough storage to satisfy the hordes of people who use their iPhone for little more than messaging, social media, web browsing, and some pictures and occasional video. Apple raised that to 32 GB this year because 16 GB was starting to be so little storage that the user experience for the masses would start to be affected and they don't want the masses complaining.

128 GB: The intermediate option with so much more storage than the cheapest option that anyone who is even a little tech savvy will be unable to refuse parting with an extra $100 even if they don't really need the extra storage. To keep this option as attractive as the previous 64 GB option, they had to raise it. If they had kept it at 64 GB, they would have had some defections to the 32 GB option.

256 GB: The high option for people who actually store obscene amounts of pictures and videos on their phone or for the people who just want the security and confidence of knowing they could not have purchased anything better. I suspect most people who purchase this option could have gone with 128 GB and never been adversely affected, but they feel better having the premium option.
