Thwere is no such thing as too much or too little. Just what you think is enough. Me, I would by a 128 TERRABYTE iPad if it existed.

For me, 128 GB is a really nice option to have. I've got a 64 GB third-gen iPad and have started running into space issues.

I've just found that the combination of music I like to keep on the iPad, plus 2-3 movies, along with apps has me getting close to my storage limit.

I think the real space killers for me are the fact that many of the apps I enjoy tend to be games and reference-style apps that are very large. If you look at games like Infinity Blade or a learning app like Solar System for iPad, these apps can approach or exceed 1 GB. Secondly, I read the digital editions of magazines like Sports Illustrated and Consumer Reports, and each issue can be fairly large.

Add all of that, plus some personal media, and I've got a very crowded iPad.

I'll be trading mine in for a 128 GB Mini next month, so hopefully that will alleviate things somewhat.

Of course, a lot of folks can get along just fine with a 16 GB iPad, but then there are people who want a 256 GB iPad and beyond. So it's just up to how each person uses their device.

I'm having the same dilemma and had it with the iPhone too. AT&T didn't have the 64GB, only the 32. I remembered how the 32 has served me just fine for years so I got that. Same with the iPad, almost. I've gotten by with the 64 but I really can't keep more than 1 or 2 movies on it, maybe more if I clear some space. The 128 would come in handy for trips where I want to bring a lot of movies to watch. However, I've gotten by with 64 for a long time and 64 plus LTE might be better than 128 for me. I'm still kind of on the fence too though.

Money? Yeah definitely over charging for more memory.

Too much memory? Not in the slightest...its tiny nowadays

I'm debating between the 64GB and 128GB, is the 128GB just overkill?
Impossible to say when you don't give us any info regarding your current and anticipated usage. As always, add up what you currently use and factor in some room for growth. One size does not fit all. 128 is overkill for some, just right for others and not enough for yet others.

I am us if a iPad 4 with 128gb and you will be surprised how fast you can fill it up with movies. This would be the only reason that I would see the average user needing that much space. For most 64gb is overkill. Just depends on how you use your device.

... is the 128GB just overkill?

It is if you aren't lazy.

People maxing out their 64GB iPads are loading it with every photo/song/video they can cram in there. Do they actually use them all within a week?? No. You can have enough music to play for a month straight. To fill 64GB with movies means quite a lot of hours of video watching.

While it would be nice to organize and fill an iPad to last a few months, it just isn't what the device is meant to be. It's supposed to be organized for a few days, maybe a week, of use and then you should be reworking contents to meet the needs of the next week. For those clamoring for more than 128GB--they'll get their wish next year or the year after--it is coming.

Personally, I can't get over 16-20GB of space used up before I realize I am just wasting space with unwatched/unneeded data.

So true. My first iPad was the iPad 2 32GB. I thought I would be safe going middle of the pack but I managed to fill it with comics the weekend it arrived. Ended up giving that one to my brother and buying a 64GB model that same weekend. I got the iPad 4 128GB as soon as it was released and I think it's at 10GB free right now.

Meanwhile, my mom's using just 2GB on her 64GB iPad. Yeah, major waste but it's a hand me down from me.

Its tempting to get the 128gb simply because the £80 extra from the 64gb gives you an extra 64gb. Previously to get to 64gb from the 16gb it costs £160.

In terms of value per gb the 128gb is the best value.

Not too much for me. I like hq video and lots of it.

Well I'm old (62). I've been in tech for what seems like forever. Back 'in the days' the mantra was 'you can never have too much RAM or too much storage'. I can't get around that. Even with 64gigs I have to manage my video library. I actually deleted most of my music to make room for a couple of TV shows. I travel a lot and those long plane rides get really boring. Not to mention the hotels!

All depends on your usage. I would actually love an SD slot so I could take my library with me. My husband, on the other hand, can't even fill up 16 gigs. His use patterns are different from mine. Of course, if he wants to watch a movie, he uses mine!

I load a lot on videos on mine. Great time killer while waiting on kids doing whatever, doctors, etc. Most of my rips have been about 1.5GB. Fairly low quality. Now I'm ripping blu-rays and DVD at a higher res. A lot of my movies are 4-7GB each now. Why have that delicious screen and play movies ripped for a nano. 64GB isn't going to cut it anymore.

Your ability to know how others will use their iPads is amazing!

...way to go nostradamus!
