It’s apples decision how long the 13 pro will be supported with iOS updates. And that’s a strategic decision independent of the hardware.

I'm a 13 PM owner that didn't upgrade to the 14 PM. Why? Apple offered terrible trade in prices for devices that weren't base storage 13 PMs. Also, I left the iUP plan and paid for this with my Apple CC. Because of that, I'm determined to keep this phone for a very long time. May help that I'm getting a little older and hopefully a little smarter too.

I lucked out with this phone. 155 cycles and I'm still at 102.8% capacity.

The 6s was a great phone. We went from the 6s to the 8+. Great great phone. That phone got me through several years of heavy Ingress (game that was not easy on phones).

I went from the 6S to the 8 plus too and what a couple of excellent phones they were. I think the 8 Plus is perhaps the most reliable iPhone I’ve ever owned. On the 13 Pro Max now and it’s a solid phone too, takes a great picture and is clearly fast enough to last a few years. I certainly wouldn’t have been upgrading to a 14 Pro Max if I’d already got the phone I have, just no need at this point anyway.

I really did not care which phone was what as I went from the 3G replacing it with 6 and then kept the 6 for a couple years a the 7 was probably the best one of the group I had back then. I kept the 7 until I replaced it with the XS which I really like but it was destroyed at work and I replaced it with a 11 Pro which I recently replaced with the 14 Pro.

I never cared that the 7 had deleted the headphone jack as having to wear hearing aid in my left ear the ear buds never were used anyway as having the issue with my ear prevented me from using them. I just use the bluetooth to connect to my tunes in the car and that is the only place I actually wanted music anyway.

My actual preferred iPhone and probably the iPhone 7 but all the stuff on here is all personal preference. My wife's favorite iPhone was her iPhone 6 that she kept until it was replaced with a iPhone SE (2020). My wife recently upgraded but went with a iPhone 13 mini as she just prefers the smaller size.

What I find amusing with this is that the 6S was even brought up this year. Chris Evans even ditched his 6S only after having severe battery issues. An actor who could obviously easily afford any phone or upgrade. It was a great iPhone and as The Real Deal said it best: "it was what the 6 should've been".

You bring up the 6 specifically as honorable mention over the 6S.

The 6 brought touch disease:

Also the 6 was 3.3x more bendable than the 5S:

I don’t think that a random article about one person who has happened to have held onto a 6S for so long really proves anything about how significant or remembered that particular device was

I feel like a lot of these 6S fanboys (on this forum, not irl of course) still haven’t got over the headphone jack being removed, even though it wasn’t a big deal even back in 2016. You can either use wireless earphones/AirPods or lightening EarPods (which is what I use)

Maybe people like you and the real deal might prefer the S models because of some notion that they are more reliable or whatever. But they are absolutely not more memorable as they lack new features and designs. The most memorable iPhones to most people will always be those with the new designs and/or introduce important new features, neither or which you can possibly say apply to the 6S

That’s why the releases such as the original, 4, 6, and X stand out the most, with the 5, 12 and 14 (Pros) to a slightly lesser extent. Not the 6S though lmao, not at all

So what? As I said on my previous post, some people prefer to be the first adopter of 'beta' release iphone, some prefer to get the final version. I pick iphone to impress me, not other people, thus I appreciate the -S version of the phone because it has fixed some of its issues. 4s, 6s, XS max, 13mini, 13 Pro Max. All are a better version than the previous release.

Nope, clearly not just us or this forum.

The headphone jack part? sure, I kept my 6S+ up until the XS Max released, and have had the upgrade bug ever since. I use AirPods Pro 2 but it was nice to not need a dongle with wired headphones. Knowing that the 5.8" iPhone X screen was actually a great deal smaller than the 5.5" iPhone Plus screens in actual screen real estate (the larger diagonal dimension here is a deception). I appreciate it even more.

I wouldn’t say I’m a ‘fanboy’ of the iPhone 6S whatever that means you you youngsters lol. I used one as main main device for a couple of years and donated it afterwards. I have it back now and occasionally use it as an iPod. It’s the only ‘S’ model iPhone I’ve owned and just acknowledge it was a very good iPhone and was supported for many years. It pops up in tech articles a lot due to its handling of updated long term. Sorry if it doesn’t suit your opinion though, you’re more than welcome to pretend the 6S wasn’t as successful as it was.

The 4S, 6S, 8, have been the only iPhones that has had a blue tick in Australia which means better reception in rural areas, so as a phone it was one of the best.

To be honest 14 pro max is a lame update. I work in a telco tech company so I had an opportunity to upgrade - but even the modest amount of money it would cost me was not worth it. My requirements were 1) 120hz (I’m very sensitive to lag) 2) Big screen 3) good battery life. For now 13 pro max is the perfect phone for me. Apple need to introduce something really special this year in order to make me upgrade next year. 13 pro max is truly perfect phone

There’s about 3 or 4 solid new features plus a redesign. Much more than 6->6S

I believe we are well past the era of yearly upgrades (unless you really must have the latest), the 11 Pro Max, 12 Pro Max, 13 Pro Max and 14 Pro Max are all fabulous devices if you are coming from much older iPhones like Xs Max and before.

I think phones have got to a point where they are like cars in that you wouldn’t change your car every year, so why would you change a phone? I think you have to be really invested and enthusiastic about phones to want to spend a few hundred every 12 months in order to have the latest device.

Nothing wrong with that since it’ll be more opportunity for us who prefer to buy used and get the bargain.

No need to even buy used, just buy the last gen when the current one drops - deep discounts and not missing out on much of you don’t care about camera improvements.

I feel like the 13PM is going to last a very long time, and the current stock issues with the 14PM are helping that even further.

I'm sure a lot of 13PM users that usually upgrade every year are sticking with their current phone this year simply because they can't get their hands on the newest model and then, once the cycle is broken, they'll end up keeping it for maybe another year or 2 on top of it.

I know more people that have bought 13PM since launch day than I know people who have bought any of the 14s!

It also doesn't help that the 13PM comes in some of the coolest colours I've seen on a smartphone (that Sierra Blue and Alpine Green are just beautiful even if I am partial to a silver myself.)
I may be superficial but I think the 14 Pro colors stink, specifically purple. The various greens & blues Apple has offered since the 11 Pro have been great. I think purple was a big misfire.

I completely agree, the purple isn't bad, it's just disappointing. Looking at my sister's Twilight Green 13PM or my friend's Sierra Blue 13Pro I can't help but feel at least a little bit jealous.

But the silver doesn't disappoint, can't go wrong with silver imo.
