    Hi, All,

My old 2007 MBP was dead a few days ago, and I found Mac mini is a good replacement, which is perfect to support two displays(for programming) by tbold and hdmi, so i can threw away the cpu-killer DisplayLink.

But I feel something that new mac mini is coming, and guess it will go with ivy bridge and Intel HD 4000 Graphics, also maybe USB 3.0. As we know 3000 Graphics sucks, and VRAM in Raden 6630M is too small. So maybe wait some weeks, we will get a surprise?

Recently, no/less rumors out about mac mini, so maybe July with new Mac OS Mountain Lion?

An HD 3000 is perfectly fine for programming, but it would be worthwhile to wait for a 2012 Mini if you're not in a hurry. I would say there should be a refresh by the end of August in the worst case.

I think they will be out by the end of July. I want one also for a HTPC hooked up to my tv. The HD4000 is much better then the 3000. I would hold off.

That's the consensus opinion around here, mainly because they've done it two years running. The good thing about the Mac Mini is that it isn't as much of a refresh hazard -- an older model loses little value in real dollars because it's such a less expensive computer in the first place. Right up until around the end of this week, I would still feel safe recommending a Mini purchase to anyone who had an immediate need for one. By comparison, I was telling people to stay away from iMacs back in January. (Granted that's when we expected an April-May refresh, but still.)

Heck, the 2010 Mac Mini has held its value amazingly well because of the optical drive. Even without thunderbolt and with a far weaker CPU (the 2011 models brought in Sandy Bridge) the 2010 Mini is a red-hot seller on eBay and Amazon in used or refurb offerings. You can hack a blu-ray drive in there and have an all-in-one Plex media center PC with HDMI out. And that's pretty good.

REMEMBER THE 2010 mac mini is a "rosetta stone" of sorts

runs leopard (hack but runs it)
    runs snow native
    runs lion
pretty sure it will run mountain
    runs windows 7
it did run linux (not sure about that now)
has a dvd to load software with ease.

this computer has become a value for many users. of course it is tooooo slow for many of us. but I have 2 of them for tv dvr etc.

Another factor to consider is that of exchange rate movements since July 2011. I fully expect anything released tomorrow to have a chunky price increase in € prices, so if you are in Euroland, I would look to splash the cash today on a 2011 refurb and if you don't like what gets released tomorrow, you at least take advantage of last year's exchange rates. If on the other hand anything spectacular gets announced, you can always take your new computer back for a refund and get a new one...

For the first time I'm starting to get skeptical that a new Mac Mini is even going to be released. We haven't heard a single rumor on a 2012 release. I hope my premonitions are wrong. I love the Minis!

I hope they're wrong too, but I don't think it's looking good. Rumors are popping up for iMac, 13-inch retina MB Pro, Mini iPad, even tweaked iPad, but nothing for Mini.

Have to say, I am now also beginning to doubt if the minis are coming tomorrow, although it could be that the vague rumours of something on 31st July may be for the new mini. I didn't think Apple would release a new product during the Olympics but the minis are a niche product so maybe a quiet refresh?

Nothing in the press release, so I guess we're out of luck for now.

People here were warning folks back in March not to buy a new Mini because they were certain a new one was a month away. I bought one in April and here it is July and no new mini. Just get one.

The majority of users - especially Mini users - won't have any great benefit with the next generation. Unfortunately I need a Quad-Core for Final Cut Pro, and a graphics card for Aperture (D800 files are much faster processed with a graphics card, as far as I experienced). So what should I do? Getting an iMac? Nope. Don't like these things at all.

Good point and a reason I almost forgot because of all the great Quad-Core and graphic card hopes.
