Definitely zip-lock bags for times at beach when it isn’t in use.
A good & inexpensive ‘rugged’ case the Magpul. They don’t overcharge.

When you ‘clean’ the phone/screen in a sandy environment I would blow it off before wiping with any cloth.. and also consider having a cloth in a ziplock bag to keep sand off of it.
Zip lock on the beach is the way to go.

View attachment 784014 Not saltwater but I took this picture under water with my X in a lake in Michigan. Make your own choice but I had no issues whatsoever. I scuba dive 2x a week and rinse off the phone with fresh water since we leave our phones on the center console when we go in. Salt is the real enemy, not so much the water itself.

How far down is your dive? Case?

We range anywhere from 15’ to 75’. I’m sorry if I inferred I take the phone down with me in a case. That I don’t do. GoPro all the way for that.

We are usually too busy catching lobster or shooting Hogfish to take a lot of pictures on top of the fact that I mainly Dive after 8pm to hint versus nicely lit daylight hours. Taking pictures at night isn’t that bad but when it’s pictch black and we are hunting I like to focus on one task.

I would really appreciate some pictures! Thanks! You're grand.

So, as I thought, I hate the speckled look.. but I don’t suppose it’s too bad when looking at the front. The back feels solid - much sturdier than other clear cases I’ve used.

Hmm. The speckles are a lot more prominent than what the Apple site shows. Is the back a fingerprint magnet? Which color iPhone did you pre-order?

It doesn’t seem bad and I feel like everything smudges for me when other people don’t have that problem... I tried to get fingerprints on it and there are a few of you look closely, but it’s not really noticeable.

I ordered the space gray.

These seems like a silly question to me. How best to protect your phone depends entirely on how you use and take care of it. I've gone on weeks long Caribbean vacations with a bare minimal case (top and bottom fully exposed, no screen protector) with no harm done.

Is it bulky?
Are you going to keep it or return it?

It’s smaller than the lifeproof case on my 7+. Certainly not bulky - probably on par (maybe slightly thicker) than the general TPU case on the market

I’ve always used a RhinoShield with a rear glass screen protector however ordered this exact same case to try it out.
Are you going to keep it or return it?
Thanks for your help.

I’m not sure yet.. I might wait to see what It’s like with the phone in it.

My initial reaction is that I’d much rather the rubber edges not be speckled... otherwise the case seems sturdy. The other otterbox Apple is selling was another 10mm thick I think.

Put it this way, IP67 is "Supposed to protect for 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. While I was in Cancun I had my X in my bathing suit pocket, totally forgot. Went waist deep in the pool for less than 30 seconds, and then realized it and jumped out.... Phone was done. IP67 "SHOULD" have allowed for that mistake but it didnt.

Remember Apple Care does not cover water damage. I had to pay $99 to get a new one.

To add insult to injury, this is exactly what Apple's videos show happening (minus the damage).

I have ordered that case for my XS Max, I believe it's supposed to ship out tomorrow so I will give a review once I receive it.

I'm hoping it's not too bulky for everyday use
