I'm actually looking into getting the air when the air 2 is released for a good price. Unless of course they really wow me with the air 2. I just got the 6 plus so trying not to spend loads on another device atm.

I upgrade my phone every year. This makes sense for me, as I have my phone with me everywhere I go. At this point, my iPad is something I use for a few limited applications, but it does those very well. I see no reason to upgrade if all the new one is offering is a better processor/more RAM/Touch ID/NFC. I could see keeping my Air until Apple stops supporting it with iOS updates, or until Apple shows me something that really changes how I can use the tablet.

I could see it being much more than that since it's being intro'd at the media event.

No, went from the 2 to the air, figure I'll get 3 more gens before I'll jump.

I did the same and I'm very pleased with the Air. However, I'm a sucker for a new device so never say never. Gave the iPhone 6 a miss so my small lottery win a couple of weeks ago has not been spent, yet!

I never sell my old tech until I know hte new tech is worth it even if that means I miss out on a few quid when I sell it.

Had major issues trying to get an Air with a decent screen before giving up if I had sold my 4 I'd have been screwed.

I usually do the same but this year I let go of my Air in advance. I ended up getting $480 around $420 after fees which was just what I wanted. I'm sick of the constant safari reloading and 1GB of ram for a tablet, also just got an iPhone 6 so letting go of it was easy. If the new device doesn't have more ram I'll just skip it entirely.

If it comes with the measly 1GB of ram it'd be ridiculous, how long has it remained like this? Enough is enough.

So I don't know the history of the iPad prices - does anyone think that the new iPad 2s will have the same selling point as the iPad Air? ie-$600 for a 32GB wifi?

I suspect they'll have the same price points, but with the same scheme as the new iPhones - in other words, you'll have the $499 16 GB model, but then instead of paying $599 for a 32 GB model it will be 64 GB, and $699 for 128 GB.

Sold my 32GB Air and I'm waiting for the new models to come out so I can pick up a used/refurb rMini for cheap. I just use it for reading, surfing so its more than powerful enough for me

and what's the point of upgrading if that's all u do with it

Nope, I'll sell my iPad air and MB Air to fund a MBP Retina. That will be my big device to go with my iPhone 6 Plus!

I sold my rMini 64gb for AUD525. I purchased it for AUD700. Seriously nobody wanted it. The prices of iPad's have tanked after the release of the new iPhones. Personally I'll never buy the iPad again. They were the most useless piece of technology I have ever owned. All I did was web browsing and even that sucked with 1gb of RAM.

My next purchase will be the 12" Retina MacBook Air.

i am going to sell my air for the air 2 .. mainly cuz i want to go black this time around .. had white iPhone 5s and air .. have black iPhone 6 and want a black air:cool:

I have a potential buyer for my current Air so it's almost certain I'll be going for a 16/32gb iPad Air2 or whatever it's called.
Most likely I'll go for the 16gb as I have no need for music, just a few photos so keep it cheap!

I will upgrade.

Seems a better upgrade than ipad 3 > 4 that was the only one I skipped.

Better camera, Touch ID, slimmer, more ram and anti reflective screen seem decent upgrades.

Just worried I will need new smart covers and cases.

I probably will hold onto to my iPad Air unless there's some unique feature. So far nothing I've heard about the next iPad Air qualifies as unique.

I'm thinking about it right now would be the perfect time if the next gen will be rolling out in a month or so.

I was fine with my Air until I got my iPhone 6 and fell in love with the TouchID now I must have it on my iPad. Then the supposed 2GB of RAM? That thing is going to be a beast. Damn you apple. Lol

TouchID and ApplePay might be cool on the iPad Air, but the current iPad Air is plenty decent for me for the time being. Plus (a) I spent a lot on my iPad Air (128GB Cellular Model) and (b) I don't feel the need to have the latest all the time. I will, however be upgrading from my first generation iPad mini as the A5 processor is only so awesome with iOS 8, let alone iOS 7 and, in that, I am looking forward to these new features (which will be much more apt for the smaller screened device anyway).

iPad has just been listed to eBay this will be my last toy for awhile. Both 6 and soon to be Air 2, will be pretty much be set for the next 3-4 years.

Famous last words ;)

I'm in the same boat my friend. Usually get the latest iPhone every year. I had an iPad 2 that I bought August 2011 and sold it this August. Felt it was worth it as I kept it for 3 years. Will buy the Air 2 and keep for the next 3-4 years. I feel like iPhone updates every year don't help me realize the "upgrade". I bought a 6 this year and I really like the larger screen. But, I came from a 5S so it feels like a bigger 5S - nothing else seems any more different. However, I'm sure if I came from a 4 or 4S, I would be amazed. Anyways, same plan as you OP!
