Unless you're not getting a subsidized phone I see no reason to get a 5C. Makes no sense in my mind how people can pay over $100 per month for cell service but go for the $99 or $0 phone when its time for an upgrade. It's a waste. The resale value alone will more than compensate for that $100 difference. I'm sure the carriers love those type of customers.

The iPhone 5C is Jony Ive's true vision, you can tell he likes the 5C better just by watching the videos. He designed the software and hardware to match.

Ok, well last year a ton of people bought the 4S even though it was $99 when the iPhone 5 cost $199.

And the year before that a ton of people bought the iPhone 4 for $99 even though the iPhone 4S only cost $199.

And this year you can get the lesser-phone for $99 even though the new one costs $199. Sound familiar?

Clearly there are a ton of people out there who don't have a problem with this pricing. It's exactly the same as it has been the last few years so I don't see why everyone's so shocked.

Selective memory? Works for me as an explanation.

I own an iPhone 4 and will consider both as an upgrade, once I've actually seen both.

my wife is blind and she loves green. she has a 4s so it is a good upgrade. but wish it had a fingerprint reader.

Yes, I'm pretty sure I'll be getting a 5C.

First of all I'm a 21 year old old male who wont be using my phone for more than calling/texting/browsing, and maybe some app usage.

I am not a tech junkie who needs the highest speed processor. I don't need the professional looking case as I won't be using my phone for intense things. I read another user on here that says that the 5c looks like a toy... and that's precisely what it is for me and most others my age.

The White on Black design looks badass.

The price is a fraction. (I'll be on contract)

There isn't a single 5S feature that would be worth upgrading for. Fingerprint sensor... don't care. Slightly better camera... like I said I'm not a nerd and the 5c is more than sufficient. A7 instead of A6... I'm sure that's a slight improvement but again, don't care.

I don't use a case and I don't want to look like a nerd with the high end aluminium exterior when the masses start getting the basic 5C. For what I do I simply do not need that much power.

Additionally I am currently using a 10 dollar phone as my last iphone had died and I've been waiting for this and would like it ASAP. With the 5c being available for preorder tomorrow night, and the 5S being subject to hoards of nerds waiting in line to acquire, I question when I would actually be getting a 5S in hand, and the difficulty it would take to acquire one.

Before this all went down I was completely planning on getting the 5s. Didn't even consider the 5c. When it came out though, I almost instantly thought it would be the better choice for me.

Hope this suffices with ya'll

I can certainly appreciate your perspective and don't disagree with it persay. But consider a few more thoughts...

The "geeks" aren't opposed to anything that isn't the latest... but in tradition, we get last-years model at the discounted rate. Now, we get last year's model with a plastic casing, making it thicker and heavier, and only in colours that many people don't find too appealing. So, even those who were excited to get a 5 at the $99 are disappointed, as their only option for that is the 5C which is inferior.

Fortunately, you can buy a 5 for less than the 5C, and slap whatever case you want on it if you wish. You don't have to be a geek or anything... it's about not wasting money on account of Apple's margins.

Regardless of what you do with your phone, getting the best for your money is always good because it means it should last longer (in terms of software support) and hold its value better at the end.

It's not about being high and mighty... people just don't want to feel like they're being played. ;)

Are you talking about off contract? If I was shelling out 549 already, I'd definitely drop another 100 and the get the 5s. But 99 to 199 is half. I'm using contract. I actually like the plastic, and the color array. Moreso than the aluminum 5. It makes me look less professional and more like a toy, a gadget. The way I envision this, and I'm open to being wrong, is that the other 21 year olds are gonna get the $99, plastic, any color device. I don't wanna look like the dumbass with the $199, state-of-the-art black aluminum :) Like I said, texting/calling/internet. Minimal app usage. I won't be using this phone to do intensive ****. The 5s is literally a miny processor. It's like a portable computer light. That's waaaay more than what I need. 5c will be a hit. iPhone lite, many colors, half price. The common folk will buy that. The 5s will be for the people who can find use for the extra power, the geeks, and the people who want to look badass with their aluminum exterior, high power phones. You won't see a dude in a suit on the sidewalk texting with his white on black 5c. It's a status issue. Trust me though, if I needed the extra power, I would get the 5s. I just don't use my phone for much other than the basics. Don't even have a Facebook :) They're both 2 great phones, they just target different folks.

I just talked to my girlfriend and asked her if she had heard of the new iphones yet. first thing she said was "yes, the new colors are awesome".

there are a lot more iphone buyers like her out there who don't give a f'ck about tech specs and yet buy a new iphone every year or two than most macrumors users think. and that's exactly what the 5c aims at. It's cheap in production and still has something new to offer. especially to many girls a nice new color is far more important than a 64 bit processor or a better camera flash.

and this is why from business perspective the 5c is another brilliant move by apple. they offer a new phone with a very high profit margin to non-tech-oriented users and a new phone with decent tech improvements to everyone else.

The 5c has been upgraded some from the iPhone 5. They added more LTE bands. A1532 CDMA will have full LTE compatibility on all the big carriers in the US except Sprint. Also the camera sensors got some minor upgrades as well.

I plan on giving my 5 to my mom and getting the 5C. So I'll be getting something's that's a little better?

I have Verizon and heard there were international limits on the CDMA. Is this problem gone with the 5C?

I also read the FaceTime camera is better on the 5C?

Better battery life on the 5C as well?

The only thing I'm wondering about is the speaker/mic? There are fewer holes on the 5C.

If you are buying the iPhone C due to finances, you should NOT be buying a new phone. Period. End of story.

Now, if you want one for the color aspect like my friend, fine. But I would personally never buy one. 5S for sure!

By the way, is it just me or are the colors all girly for the C?

Agreed on the $ part. Girly? Nah. More like "hipster approved" :D
