The 6 plus bends at 90lbs and the 6 at 70lbs. I have watched the bend gate video a few times and he puts considerable force in one spot. Not something that would happen easily in a pocket and if it did I'm sure you would feel it!

Put the phone in your front pocket while wearing jeans that fit. Sit down. Take your phone out without standing up. Tell me, was that extreme?

----------

70lbs at the middle. At the weak point the 6 plus starts to deform at 23lbs.

So during normal usage, how does one exert a highly concentrated 23 lbs of force at the exact right spot while having each of the endpoints fixed to an immovable object (vs. the give that a normal thigh would have) with no other support at any other point on the phone?

That 23 lbs is only relevant if under normal usage, the phone has the same constraints - which it just never does.

23 lbs wow that's really horrible.

When your iPhone bends, what are you going to think then?

Ok so i know there has been a lot about the whole bending thing. I've read a lot about it and to be honest I'm still not sure about how bad it really is in reality. I've got a 6, which i should add isn't bent, yet...

But does anyone else find themselves treating their 6/6+ with kid gloves? I almost never put mine in my trouser pocket anymore unless i don't have a choice. Whenever i sit down i take it out and put it on the table. Whenever i get in my car i don't leave in it my pocket i put it in the centre console.

Does this annoy anyone else? I shouldn't have to do that. Im sure I'm being hugely over cautious, but at the end of the day i don't want a damn bent phone!

I love my 6, but even having to think about this stuff annoys me and makes me almost resent the device. Its got to last me 2 more years yet...!

I dunno, ramble over...

Nah. I always treated my iPhones carefully anyway.

Hey could someone make a thread about bending iPhones? I'd like to read up on it.

When your iPhone bends, what are you going to think then?

And this was all you needed to say (well not even this really, but if you must). You certainly didn't need to take this one tiny random thought and attempt to make an entire thread out of it.

When your iPhone bends, what are you going to think then?

I will think: holy cow I literally have rock hard thighs and wear pants that have no give in then because I have been able to exert specific pressure on one part of the phone while preventing any of the other parts of the phone from moving.

Or...

That guy Ed at work purposely bent my phone because of what happened with the McKlarkun project. At least he didn't key my car again.

I have to admit I catch myself being overly cautious with my 6. So far so good but I am more careful than I've been with any previous iphone. So yeah, I'd say it's annoying.

Do you participate in any extreme sports? Like skydiving, flying suit base jumping, downhill long boarding, full contact chess?

Are your answers no to all the above? Then shut up and enjoy your phone. Did you answer yes? Well stop taking your phone to the roller derby championship.

It is a piece of thin aluminum dude, treat it as such.

Somebody is actually doing full contact chess flying suit base jumping with the iPhone:

But that's 5; 6 will probably bend in half on the first jump. :D

Some have reported that it bends on its own. I imagine the aluminum is as thin as a soda can, the kind that crinkles with the slightest touch.

Don't really understand why people don't like talking about it, but hey ho.

I think it's for the very reason you opened this thread. Makes people like you extremely paranoid when they read stuff like this. That's the thing with the internet.

Treating my phone same as any other phone. It's usually on Apple silicon case but simply because I want it with zero scratches for when I sell it on eBay next year, and not because of the bending. I have had it in all pockets, including back pockets. My mate works on construction site and have a 6 on a case that he says he keeps it always in his pocket when he is not using it. There was media storm about it weeks ago but must people I know who use 6/6+ just moved on and forgot about it.

I usually get reminded of bending when I read thread like this.

This is kinda what i was getting at with this... Its not so much the people that have managed to bend it, its the fallout from that. It does make you second guess yourself, and THATS annoying. Well, i do at least.

What I find most annoying is new topics about bending! If you have a genuine issue take it to the store!

If people were doing that and no one talked about it at least here then people would never learn about issues. The downside of the talking is the fact that it confuses some people whether or not the issue is real or fabricated. I wanted to buy the iPhone 6 but now I'm waiting it out to see if its a real problem or not.
I have iPhone 4 and i have it in a back pocket all the time (even when i sit down) and never in those 4.5 years had issue with it so now that I want to upgrade of course I would like to find out what the reality.
I hope by Christmas this will be cleared out so I can treat myself to a nice Christmas present :)

It would be nice to know if those that have iPhone 6 and use it in the back pocket and even sit on it had any issues. This stupid bendgate made me thing that maybe i could just get the iPad Air 2 and wait till 6S next year :(

I have a fairly active lifestyle so I keep the 6 in a bulky case, I would anyway so its not an issue. Still straight after backpacking ~30 miles on the Appalachian and a lot of other outdoor activities.

Just looking at the phone and how thin it is, I'm surprised it doesn't bend easier then it already does.

But does anyone else find themselves treating their 6/6+ with kid gloves?
To a degree I do treat my IP6+ more delicately then my prior phone. It was a 5c, and it could take everything I through at it. The way it feels in my from pocket so constrained, I am more careful.

The people who were having problems were getting the problems from everyday usage, not extreme sports.

That is what they said, but i really doubt just having phone in pocket would cause bending. If you don't hit your phone or sit on it chances are you will not have a bent phone.

Of course you will have to make up you own mind but they have been alot more post disputing the iphone bending issue by people that actually own an iPhone 6.

Its funny actually, when this all came out and i had had my 6 for a little while i had a closer look at my 5 that id had for a couple of years. I noticed that it was actually slightly bent. Not so much that you would ever notice with the naked eye, but enough that when you put it on a flat surface it wobbled slightly. So it does happen.

I will say this. I have a 6+ and treat it no different than my 5S. I still catch myself putting it in my back pocket and sitting on it quite often. I have warranty. If it bends I go to apple. No signs of bending. Take in consideration that I am 6' 3" 255lbs. I'm not saying it's fabricated, but I'm saying if I can sit on it consistently and not bend, then the conditions for bending have to be extreme.

Yeah, that is actually what i want to hear more often. Actually, the only thing I want to know from those that have it is whether they have it in a back pocket and sit on it. That is the only thing I'm concerned about. I usually take my phone out of the pocket when im about to sit on a very hard surface but when i get into car or sit on something soft then i usually keep it in. If the phone can withstand that then I'll be more than happy to buy it.

So, to me, can those who do the same tell me. The more the better. :))

...or some phones are faulty.
