I'm out of time because I am leaving on a trip next week so I'm back on my 3GS and I setup a return to Apple. I really would have hung in there and waited longer if they made an official statement of the issue being real. My decision to return really locked in when I read the internal memo which just rubbed me wrong. I will miss the display dearly but ultimately can repurchase 3 or 4 months from now when things shake out.

I will also miss iMovie as well. I see in the hack forums that peeps are running it on Jailbroken phones perfectly. Things like that make you wonder if Apple lost sight of the customer. If it runs perfectly then they are just using it as bait for new sales which I get but the new display, camera, and form factor should be enough. Maybe they plan on integrating the front cam or something...

And this is what bugs me. Look at the iPad. I bring it to work and it connects and disconnects from wifi all day long it's a total pain. Apple says it's router settings. Ok, well then why does my iPhone stay locked in on the connection and never drop. Must be the router settings right? Besides, how do they expect you to fix router settings on routerw you have no access to. Peopledo use thwm outside there house!! C'mon, it's been 2 months now and still no update. WTF is up with that.

Are we now supposed to wait around and hope that apple eventually fixes it? They say there is nothing wrong and to buy a case or hold it differently. What are they gonna say if they fix it in software? It's a fix for an issue that doesn't exist?

Sorry to say, but I have no issues with my iPad wifi. I use airport extreme and airport express at home and Netgear at work, but no problems with any of them. As for you not having issues with your iPhone wifi, they use different wifi chipsets.

I'm not saying that you are not having issues and I'm not trying to defend Apple, but it's not unexpected for a large company to not address an issue that only affects small percentage of individual in a timely manner. They do need time to test out the issues and would prefer to address other issues at the same time. If you don't want to run into these issues, you shouldn't be an early adopter.

I will return my phone within the next week if these two problems are not addressed.

a. "grip of death", my phone drops full coverage when I hold it in my left hand. I mean full here folks, this is no "representation of bars" issue. Its comical how much and how fast it changes. I can make the speedtest app rev like my car by taking my hand away. When I leave my hand for over 15 seconds the test doesn't even run. I don't care how it is fixed, but this is a big deal and if its not addressed soon this "phone' is getting the boot.

b. proximity sensor, this thing simply doesn't work during calls. Every call so far I activate some random button when talking. How do they not catch these things? Crazy.

There are some posts suggesting that proximity sensor issue can be addressed by "Reset All Settings.". DO NOT "Erase All Contents and Settings."
