I think you will be pretty hard pressed to see a difference in resolution in general use, (that's typical apps, including safari, mail, etc).

Its not always about ppi - the iPad Pro is about 270 ppi and nobody complains about that.

So forgetting resolution, unless you are holding it just a few inches from your face... the xs / pro screens are an easy choice for anyone who does a lot of photo work and of course wants to watch a lot of HDR content. For me, the answer is no, i don't typically do that on my phone so the standard 11 is just fine for me.

Yeah, my iPad Pro 11" is really crisp, which I use at the same distance as my phone when in bed. The iPhone 11 will look really good as the PPI is greater than the iPad pro. Contrast seems lower than the iPad Pro (1800:1) but 1400:1 is probably still going to look fine.
I'm thinking about upgrading from X to 11, so I can get larger storage (64->128), night mode, and ultra wide lens.

So anybody here made the move from X or XS to 11 and willing to share initial impressions?

I have a X and thinking about upgrading to 11 for the better camera and better battery. I also like the slightly larger screen, without going all out max size :)

I am worried that I will regret the move to LCD, but to be honest I love LCD on my iPad Pro 11”.

Honestly, I don’t notice the difference. Use calculator app and looked the same to me. The bezels are slightly thicker but don’t price that either. Great phone and the Green is awesome, more aqua or sea glass than lime. Apple store employee did screw up my trade in so have to figure it all out in the am. The good news is that I have a receipt from the store for my old iPhone. Night mode is awesome!

I don't really get why people would go from an iPhone XS to the standard iPhone 11? The 11 is an inferior phone in all aspects, other than slightly better battery and camera? The XS has a better screen, higher pixel count, better build quality, and better form factor to name just a few.....

Even all the recent reviews of the iPhone 11 confirm that XS to 11 is not a worthy upgrade - and even if you're not a camera user, the 11 Pro would also not be a worthy upgrade....

Yup, this.

I buy all my phones outright, so the new upgrade program or whatever doesn’t apply to me.

No point really. If you got battery problems, get a new battery instead. Is a much cheaper fix.

I really did not see any benefit of upgrading to the iPhone 11 from my iPhone X.

I wouldn’t say battery problems, but I would certainly appreciate the better battery.
I would also like the 128 gb storage option. 256 is overkill for me, and 64 is getting close to being too little.

The camera is also important to me. So I think the 11 will be an upgrade in that department.

Anyway I am upgrading to either 11 or 11 Pro (non max). Just having a hard time deciding.

Honestly mate I’ve come from an X to an 11 and I can’t tell any difference personally regarding screen quality. There is obviously some difference but it’s not That noticeable in my eyes

Better camera
Better battery
Bigger storage
Larger display

I’ve lost OLED which I can’t notice and gained bigger bezels which you forget after a couple of seconds

Did you try dark mode on both phones? I was almost ready to pull the trigger on an 11 with 128 GB, but then I compared dark mode on y X vs. my wife’s iPhone 7. Big difference I think. Maybe the eleven screen is better than then the 7 screen somehow? I know it is bigger :)

Still leaning towards the 11 rather than pro.. the upgrade is bound to happen

I was contemplating it. I buy my phones outright and could get the regular 11 for $400 out-the-door after taxes. I went yesterday to check it out and it took me seconds to realize the size would be a deal breaker and dark mode doesn't look nearly as good on the LCD. I guess I didn't realize how much larger the 11 would feel in hand.

Can’t say I tried dark mode side by side however for me Dark mode will only be in used during the evening as I’ve set it to automatic but the black scenes in the film the difference was minor

thanks for sharing. To be honest, my iPad Pro 11”is my favorite screen ever. So I can probably go from OLED to lcd on my phone.

I honestly can’t notice any difference

my biggest issue is if the phone is too big for what I’d like but I ain’t paying more (£25a month) to go down a screen size to the standard 11
