Is anyone else just shooting for the Sport model band? It's funny how a lot of people in the Apple Watch forum thinks just females want the sport band! I have tons of watches and prefer polyurethane bands over SS so I will be going for the Sport if I end up pre-ordering.

Yeah I am; can't justify the cost of the 'normal' models and haven't actually liked the look of the leather or stainless steel from the review videos. Am going with 42mm space grey sports with black strap, and my wife is getting 38mm silver with green strap.

Yeah I wear a good bit of 38mm Invicta watches and love the 38mm casing size so I plan to go with the 38 grey sport band. I cant justify paying that much for a smartwatch right now. I am still not sold on the whole smartwatch movement anyways to be completely honest.

As much as I want the SS, I just can't justify the price yet because I can't entirely convince myself that I need a smart watch. So, I will probably just go for the Sport Space Grey.

My thoughts 100% lol.

When you guys say Sport are you doing the Aluminum or SS case?

as much as I want the SS with milanese loop, I'm simply not going to spend the extra $300 over a simply sport model. I'm indecisive between 38 and 42 space grey or aluminum.

I'm still going back and forth between Space gray aluminum and stainless steel with black sport band. Have to wait till I can see them myself in the store.

As much as I want to go cheaper I just can't wear it on my wrist at all times, it looks like a toy not a watch.

All of the non-sport bands have question marks for me. Question marks that can only be resolved by actually seeing them in person. So I've finally decided to go for a sport band, albeit on an SS. It got a fantastic write up in one of the reviews yesterday, so I think it's worth giving it a try. I can always "upgrade" later on.

Yep, two Sports here for the wife and I. My wife is worried she will scratch the screen on the Sport too easily (admittedly, she is kind of a klutz ;)) but I'm not too worried about it.

That's what I originally had my heart set on, and saved up for. But once I saw the early video reviews showing the Milanese loop with the SS watch, it just looked cheap. So I've changed my mind and will now go with the 38mm space grey aluminium with the black band.

No, I think you may be the only one. In the world. Boy are you unique ;)

Actually, yes I'll be getting the sport model (black). (Well. I'm 99% sure).

I've gone from definitely NOT getting a watch to skip the first gen and see how things pan out, to maybe getting one, to definitely not getting one again. Then pretty suddenly I decided to get one.

from the start I was always just going to go with the sport because a) 1st gen b) same functionality c)unknown product but then I started waffling to the SS earlier this week because a) I'll be wearing and displaying on my body every single day b) more band options c) more durable

But last night I've officially decided to stick with the sport. The reviews helped remind me that this truly is a 1st gen product with isues. $200 extra isn't going to fix any of those issues. Also, I'm not really a big fashion type person. I don't wear a watch. I'd prefer my watch to be as light as possible. And all my other apple products are aluminum and they serve me just swell :)

I am getting the SS but agree about the bands. Do not like metal or leather bands.

Yeah, I kind of agree (without seeing in person of course). When I was thinking about getting the SS I was still going to get a sport strap because a) I'll need a sport strap regardless for exercise b) I wasn't really sure if I liked any of the leather/metal straps c) 3rd party

I want it as a daily wear watch, so I think I'm going to stick with the SS. I'm not sure how the Sport would look with something like the Milanese loop for example, and if the next generation comes sooner than I anticipate, I don't think I'll have trouble selling this generation to upgrade. As someone said in another thread, if I lose $250 in a year to upgrade, that's only $21 a month I paid, which to me is worth it.

I honestly doubt that the Apple Watch has a great resell value.
Just look at the other smartwatches.
Once the 2nd gen is out, nobody wants the first gen anymore...

i think you are going to find out that the 38mm apple watch is a lot smaller looking than a 38mm invicta. i have a 36mm reactor and when i place it over the apple watch cut out, it completely hides it except for the teeniest portion of the corners. even the 42mm is all covered except for the corners... that's why i'm now torn... even with my small wrists... i'm used to a 36mm watch and i'm worried that the lighter, thinner and what appears to be smaller watch won't make me happy....

I think a lot of people do. And I suspect a lot of those people are trading up to the SS because of it.

it's a heck of a lot cheaper to just buy the sport with any old color and buy a $50 black band thatn to spend the extra $200 PLUS tax PLUS the higher apple care price to get a black plastic strap on the watch... unless you like the shiny SS.....

for me it's about $236 more (if i remember correctly when i did the figures) to upgrade to stainless (with a sport band) if i even liked shiny and silver....

Kind of agree. Resale value on phones is good because people need phones.

Resale on a watch will be a lot less. More like resale on a bluetooth headset or some other accessory.
