I'm selling mine. Just wondering about the best place to sell it. eBay seems like it could bring a slightly bigger profit, what with their ridiculous selling percentance fees; but CraigsList would be quicker and if done right at a public setting, safe as well.

What is good place to sell and for how much? I might sell even I have 3 month old MBPR/13 inch.

Personally I always sell through craigslist. It's a bit more of a risk selling your stuff this way than say ebay, but you get a lot more money and you don't have to pay any fees. If your 13" is still pretty much like new you can probably get $1000.

Actually no, selling through ebay is actually riskier than craigslist. The buyer can easily dispute that you never actually sent them anything and they could keep their money and your item without paying a dime.

ebay fees is the only reason why I don't sell through them. But yeah with craigslist always do it in public and never near your house. I always do it at a Starbucks a few miles from my place where there's other stores around. Lots of people, so the buyer is less likely to try and rob you. Not that I've ever had to worry about that, I'm 6'5" and I always bring along my brother who is an MMA trainer haha.

There are still people who did not understand that the lag experienced on rMBPs is software related.

Yep mind boggling really. Maverick's totally fixes all the UI/scrol lag issues but what do I know? I've only been using Maverick's for the past two months and currently using the GM build:eek:

On topic though I won't be selling my 15" 2012 rMBP. As others have stated there won't be that huge of an upgrade and I have been getting AMAZING battery life with OSX Maverick's especially on the GM build. My battery is still pretty much brand new, only 12 cycles, but man the battery life is a beast with Maverick's I am very impressed.

For such price I would stay with current longer. I would possibly only upgrade if 13 inch with retina will become lighter and thiner with better graphics. Processor and battery is Ok now, I am amazed of MBPR after many years of using different Windows laptops.

I'll definitely not sell my 13 rMBP, maybe I'll get a 15 to replace my oooold desktop at home

I wasn't planning on it until my 15" rMBP Samsung screen recently developed a nice bright white spot right smack in the middle of the screen. It's now out of warranty and a new screen will cost about $650.00 through Apple.

Next one I will definitely get the Apple Care!

Mine did the exact same thing but luckily I noticed right before my warranty ran out. I dropped it off to be serviced today.

2 weeks left on the warranty so debating AppleCare or SquareTrade or similar. Looks like I may not be able to buy SquareTrade since it's not less than 30 days old. Anybody have any thoughts or opinions on this?

If you, or anyone you know has a teacher or student ID, you can get a nice discount on AppleCare for your rMBP.

They ask for ID at the Apple store. So bring your friend with you.

I have a friend w/ a student ID, so how much is the discount?

It's $110 less with the discount. There's another place here where it's $105 cheaper and you don't have to use someone else's student ID. According to other users, B&H is legit so I might get it from them.

$110 off apple care if you're a student? Even off a refurbished model?

Yeah, I'm a frequent B&H customer (my PO box is one ave away...intentionally..hahaha) I was already debating getting it there. Thanks for the reassurance that it's legit.

was watching ebay the past few days and saw a few quad core 15" rMBP 16GB, 768 SSSD go for $1800, $1825 and $1900 all mint condition.

Just wondering if anyone was planning on doing this? The thought crossed my mind though I probably won't do it.

That was my original plan when I bought my 13" rMBP last year but now I'm not so sure.

I have no complaints about my performance currently and I'm using only 1/3 of my 128GB SSD with all my software installed; I can easily get another year out of this machine and Mavericks will only make it better.

Since Haswell will be just a spec bump and mostly focusing on battery life, I'm thinking I'll probably wait until the Broadwell refresh.

I guess it just depends on what Apple releases this month. Kinda hard to make decisions on things that haven't been released yet. Maybe I'll cave in and order a Mac Pro....

plan on trading my macbook pro 13" late 2011 through a apple reseller that has a trade in program for a new one, can get around $700 for it. either I will get a rMBP or MBA depending on if we see a update at the oct 22nd event.

Which reseller are you using if you don't mind sharing?

If you're going to sell your laptop through Craigslist do a few things first:

1. Arrange a meeting in a public place with plenty of people around. If someone tries to steal or run away with your laptop, then you have cameras to reference to and plenty of people to get a good look at the guy.

2. If you can, try to note down the License Plate of the buyer's car before the transaction happens. Again if they try to steal it, then you'll have something for the police to go after.

3. BRING A COUNTERFEIT PEN PLEASE. This alone will spook away all bad-doers. Inform the buyer before the transaction that you'd like to use this pen on the bills as it is a $1000+ sale.

My experience? I tried to sell my 15" through craigslist. Asked the buyer to meet me at starbucks, and when he came, he wanted to do the transaction outside. So there's flag #1.
I went outside, WITHOUT my laptop, and met the individual at their car right in front of the coffee shop. I asked him before we make this sale, I need to mark the bills to confirm they are real. He hesitated and stated "I just went to the bank and that it is sealed" 1. It was not a bank envelope. 2. It was 8:30PM, banks have been closed for 3 hours now. 3. The envelope was too thick for $1200. Looked like a stack of money which meant a lot of low denomination bills.
I told him, that's fine, but I still want to mark the bills, and even offered him the pen so he can do it himself and just show me. He replies "I just want a laptop man"
and I reply "and I just want money man"

AND THEN I hear the woman next to him whisper in the car "but they're all ones"...she thought only he could hear it, but I heard it just fine.

It continued to go back and forth for a minute or so, then he just said "forget it" and drove off.

BE SMART and be careful.

What kind of battery life are you experiencing with Mavericks on your rMBP?

I usually say no, I won't upgrade, but I end up buying the new one anyways.

That said, it's much harder to sell a used computer in China I have found. People just don't like the like the idea of second-hand anything.

Where can I get a counterfeit pen?
