I can't imagine doing that with all the problems I read about websites on PowerPC in these forums lol. I bought a G5 tower (I can't remember what it's called anymore, PowerMac?) a couple of years ago, and last I heard it's still going strong for word processing/spreadsheets and music at the office I worked at. Beyond that simple stuff seems like it'd be tough. Good luck challengers.

I do miss my old eMac though, I think it somehow ran World of Warcraft on the lowest settings back when I first started playing.

It'll be a while, if ever, but I've at least taken the trouble to post this reply from one of my ARMs - specifically this message posted from NetSurf 3.6, running on a recent nightly build of RISC OS, running on Raspberry Pi 1 (ARMv6). NetSurf's layout engine apparently needs a bit of work because this is fairly dire... to the point where I may actually see whether the source is readable and whether I can fix anything.

I really don't know much about the ARM platform and Raspberry Pi's. Is NetSurf the only option to run on there?

Yes and no.

There are, as far as I'm aware, three OSes available on the Pi. Linux, Windows 10, and Risc OS. Linux has the most software available, including multiple browsers, but I'm not a fan of the OS and I don't use it unless I have to.

Risc OS was originally built by the same company as ARM and it's extremely fast and compact (it can boot to the desktop in 5 MB). There is a lack of software, but the catalogue is growing. It's gradually getting easier and faster to port apps across from other platforms. One of those is Otter Browser, which, like Safari, uses WebKit. Unfortunately the port is in a fairly early state and it's not very usable yet :(

NetSurf typically isn't too bad, but this was the first time that I'd tried to use MR with it. Obviously there's something in the CSS that it doesn't like!

Edit: Actually, it looks like the bulk of the issue is JavaScript. The page looks similar (although not quite as bad) in Safari if I turn JavaScript off. NetSurf doesn't have JS enabled by default.

I wish there was a solution to get PPC/Leopard connected to the later iOS/iPhones to get access to the photos.
I tried DigiDNA DiskAid last night but it depends on iTunes. The latest version running with Leopard/PPC had been 4.73 but I didn't succeed to even connect an iPhone 4s.

Hmm. I'm sure that when I plug in my iPhone at work (Win 7), it shows up as a drive. But I've just tried it at home and nothing...

It does not work even if you install windows 7 or XP in virtual PC or qemu?

I'll try the same with VirtualPC7 and WinXPpro today.
But it's so slow on my PBG4 DLSD even without any program running, that I fear, this attempt won't be successful too.
[doublepost=1481964439][/doublepost]After 10 minutes of running VPC7/WinXP I may bake an egg on the bottom of my PB.
I fired up all fans with G4FanControl to cool the machine down again.
IMHO tha combination of VP7/WinXP is of no good to try on.
I don't even think about emulating Win7 on this old machine.
So Fotos are locked into my iPhone like in Fort Knox when it comes to PPC... :(
They might be sent via email or by using importing them into iFiles and access iFiles via browser, but that's not the way how to get them all easily importet into iPhoto which i one reason for me to need and intel-machine.
[doublepost=1481967227][/doublepost]Oh, wow, as a little "side effect" while attempting to connect my iPhone with VPC7+WinXP without any success, I found out, that for the first time ever I was able to get a working VPN-connection from my PowerBook to the office-server, which runs Win2008Server.
What a great morning !!! :)
Here's a screenshot from my box in the box in the box... hurray!

To import fotos from iOS the app "iFiles" is a great deal!
https://itunes.apple.com/de/app/ifiles/id336683524?mt=8
I didn't expect this, but when I tried this morning, I found out, that iFiles is able to batch-import all fotos from the camera-roll with a one-button press.
After that you can get access to iFiles from any browser ... hmm, but then you have to select any each single foto for download by hand.
At least a faster way than going the iCloud-way via browser since you connect phone and PPC locally.

iFilesFileAccessFromPPC.png

Exporting stuff from Phone to somewhere else is even faster and better!
You may upload from the iPhone directly to one of the webDAV-servers, which are accessible from PPC, since iFiles also has access to webDAV and other cloud-services, including Dropbox, Box etc.
And you may even connect "iFiles" to the PPC via AFP directly!
And it's super-fast via home-network!
So batch-importing fotos from CameraRoll goes directly to any Cloud-Service or sources in your local network without need of storing stuff in the iFiles-App itself.

So this is the future where iPhone-fotos&files are easily connected to PPC again :)

Ha, that's good fun! You can also send voice-notes/text-notes/clipboard-stuff directly to any selected folder on the PPC, or take pictures directly to the PPC without stuff beeing stored on the iPhone itself.

What a great morning! - All my burning questions a resolved now!
Togeter with the iPhone I'm now able to get access to fotos or nearly whatever stuff I need. It's easy now to batch-import fotos from the CameraRoll to the PowerBook and into iPhoto.
And I'm able to connect to my office-server now with the help of VirtualPC&WinXPpro.
What a great morning... :)

Great work @bobesch ! You have found a very good solution to the famous new iPhones + PowerPC problem :D

I suggested you to try virtualpc and iTunes on xp because some time ago I have read on discussions.apple that a guy was syncing his iPhone with his G4 by using that way.

Anyway I just can't understand why people buys iphones. Really beautiful design, sure, but too little functional. Just thinking of how airdroid works well with my PowerPC Mac. I can do almost everything with my Nexus 4, things that I couldn't do with an iPhone. I do like its design though, in fact when my Nexus will die maybe I will get something similar the meizu m3 note (android + iPhone-like design) :p

Assuming you're not running an architecture that's been dead for over 10 years... the integration with the ecosystem. I'm perfectly happy with my iPhone and intel Macs.

VirtualPC7 with WinXP didn't work. The iPhone is recognized by the system appears in FileManager and clicking onto the iPhone-folder opens another window showing that WinXP and iPhone try a handshake but finally at this point connection freezes.
Connecting iPhone to PPC via iFiles-App is such a perfect solution now, that I don't miss anything.
Nice, that Android works fine for you - same for me with iOS. The world has many colors!

Today I had a nice conversation with David Kocher, the maker of "Cyberduck", about options to implement the new certification for Dropbox oder GoogleDrive to Cyberduck.
Cyberduck for PPC currently supports Bonjour, (S)FTP, webDAV and is very stable.
The latest versions of "Cyberduck" and "MountainDuck" also support Dropbox (bookmarks for multiple user-accounts side-by-side) or GoogleDrive.
David told about Cyberduck being an OpenSource-project and the option for anyone to make a build for PPC.
Ha, I'm not a programmer - but this might be a solution to keep PPC connected to basic Cloud-sources that are currently hardly or not available.
Maybe someone here is able to hack old or new PPC Cyberduck.

Raspbian, Ubuntu, OSMC, LibreELEC, PiNet. There are probably others "in hiding" (ie. not submitted to the official Pi download page).

Good to know. I may have to get a "smart" phone finally. Are there any with a battery that lasts a week like my current phone?

I've been wondering this, is anyone going into 2017 still 100% Powerpc? The last time I ran that was in late 2013.

not entirely because I have my Windoze PC's a HP desktop, and a Lenovo ThinkPad Laptop, but I only have one Mac my 12" Apple iBook G4. However I did just get a Android phone, my first ever modern smart phone nearing 2017, but I am now starting to wonder about an Apple iPhone mostly cause I love my Mac more than I hate windows my Android works petty well though and there are loads of free apps..

Long ago I had several PDA Palm Os Devices, 3 different Palm Pilots and my last was a Treo 650 one the original smart phones. So an Android isn't really strange to me, though I liked Palm OS more..

I don't think I could take up a challenge of using only one of my many devices, I wouldn't last a week although my Power PC is the only Mac I use.

It's nice to install Win2000pro in a virtual machine on the iBookG4 with VirtualPC7. Plus Office2000, PalmDesktop, HanDBase, Docs2Go and SmartList2Go. And your Palms are back in game again.
With a separate Windows-users for each single Palm you may even run every Palm-device with the same Hotsync-user-name. Connection and Sync is completely locally without any cloud. That's my backup-solution beyond Cloud and Web.
