i like Touch ID and don't want to wait to upgrade my 6S. I think I might get the 7S if the 8 is delayed.

Is anyone else doing this or is everyone planning on getting an iPhone 8 / X?

For me, it depends on what this new iPhone has to offer. I currently plan on upgrading to the OLED iPhone, but if it doesn't appeal to me or if the latest features are not what I was expecting, I would consider the 7s. But ultimately I'm curious to see how Apple
Sets these iPhone models apart from each other with Touch ID and the home button all together.

But knowing Apple's marketing and how the Keynote will move forward, I will likely choose the OLED model. I Really like my 7 Plus, but would appreciate some hardware changes as well.

I might have too that or get a second job so I can get the 8.. thats if any of the rumors are true of course. I think Apple is looking to only sell its products to the very rich, middle class.. your OUT.

Cameras and the thin bezel are main selling points for the iPhone X.

The iPhone 7S offers nothing except wireless charging - not really interested as I like to use my phone when charging.

I probably will, mostly because I'd like a bigger screen than my current 7, but don't have an interest in paying $1200 for the iPhone X/Edition.

My decision may ultimately depend on the purchase price of the 8. The 8 is the one I want, but if its going to cost a ridiculous amount of money, then I'd rather wait another year, and get it cheaper next year. Either way my 6S still has a long way to go.

I hate non physical buttons. They are stupid. If Apple releases a 5.8" phone with a 5.1" viewing area because of software buttons I will be buying the 5.5", then most likely sticking with it for many years as these phones are good enough for that now. I couldn't stand my nexus 5 because of on screen buttons, they're hideous, they are always around because you need them, and they take up precious display space.

I've already pretty much made my decision for this year by buying a S8+. The last iPhone I bought was a SE and previously, a 6S and a 6S+. I didn't feel that the 7 was worth buying so I bought a S7 Edge then and now I bought a S8+ because I'm just not excited about anything I'm hearing iPhone related, lately.

I -really- wish I had liked android. Samsung is releasing some extremely pretty devices now. I would agree the 7 is boring, but I have to say the 7+ is probably the most refined phone I've used for many years, it's boring but it does what it needs to do perfectly.

What software buttons do you think will be added?

It's like going from a 2016 Corolla to a 2017 Corolla
How come?

At the very least a home button I would imagine if they remove the physical one. I could also see like a Siri button if they did this so that way you don't have to hold down the software home. I'll see what comes out, perhaps somebody will jailbreak it and be able to hide the buttons. I had my nexus 5 rooted and enabled to hide the software buttons unless I did a gesture. Nobody borrowing my phone could use it at all, but I was happy that I got the full display and the removal of the ugly buttons.

You may be right. You also might not. Since iPhone 8 will certainly be limited by production, and perhaps be delayed, Apple is not going to skimp on the 7S. They need people to buy it while they ramp up production on 8/x.

Bezel and OLED will obviously be 8 only. Besides those two, what feature 8 will have that 7S won't remains to be seen

How do you not "skimp" and make a phone attractive to buyers while charging a premium? If Apple knew the answer, they would have applied it to iPhone 7. Then Apple wouldn't have suffered low sales performance in China.

If the 8 had some extra special features, we would have known by now. Guys like Ming Chi-Kuo are so tightly linked to the supply chain, there aren't many secrets. The rest is in the software. It comes down to 3D facial recognition, AR, improved Siri, and peer to peer payments.

My gut says 7S will be a huge internal upgrade. Camera. Storage. It is possible wireless charging makes it to 7S. 8 could just be bezel and OLED changes. I don't know what the changes will be.

It is basically known that iPhone 8 production will be limited and delayed. Apple will want to sell devices. It doesn't want people waiting for months for an 8 to become available at their carrier store.....

Aside from OLED, bezel change, and perhaps face recognition, I predict that differences between 7S and 8 will be limited.

Of course, OLED and bezel changes are huge.

This huge change is also why production quantities will be limited- the changes are so huge, more can't be made.

We will see the extent of differences when 7S debuts.
