Generally if your buying your phone for longevity “S” models are better. All of the first gen issues are worked out. Tweaks on the new tech are done. I’m still not sure what my choice would be. May just keep 6s another year as it performs well and wait for the 8s.

I'm prepping to sell my 7 and just use my 6s Plus until Apple announces the new iPhone's. I most likely will be getting the 7s, depending on the price of the 8. I also wouldn't have an issue still using my 6s Plus for another year.

Just all depends on what Apple does with the new devices.

My gut feeling is that there won't be a 7s.

I see the new model launching alone and the current 7 dropping down as the lower priced model. The 7 is already a third version of the 6 series, so don't really see any incremental upgrades or enhancements that warrant the design and production of a completely new model that would sell in vastly smaller numbers than the all new design.

I haven't seen any convincing evidence for a 7s being in development, most articles on the subject just seem to operate on an assumption it will happen based on previous release patterns. I should also add that I think the rumours about the redesigned model being some sort of exclusive device, almost double the price of the competition, are nonsense.

If we ignore Kuo's prediction there will be three new models this year, it still makes sense there would be a 7S.

A11, True Tone, wireless charging/faster charging. The physical design of iPhone 7S may be older, but why would Apple leave these technologies on the table instead of capitalizing on them? Every major carrier has a no-contract plan and not everyone wants to spend $999 on the ultimate iPhone. Furthermore, there is a huge opportunity for Apple to attach the sale of a high margin wireless charger with a 7S and zero chance of doing that with a 7.

True, but I don't see the 8 or X or whatever people want to call it retailing for a significantly higher price than the current 7 range. And if anybody really wanted wireless charging that much, they're more than likely going to be the type of consumer who would be looking to buy the new model. Plus, every sale of a 7s is one lost sale of an 8.

I don't doubt there will be a small price bump for the 8, but not enough of a one to warrant designing and manufacturing a step-down option when one already exists in the from of the current iPhone 7 range.

With the rumored 5.8 OLED iPhone, I imagine there will be a heavy constraint with this model becoming available where most will opt for the "7S." And I'm curious based on stock numbers, how much Apple actually will have available to distribute versus the 7s on launch day over the OLED model. Supply versus demand.

I've been hearing rumors that the new iphone 8 or X whatever you want to call it may be released later then the 7S maybe since there having a few issues with the new innovations their trying to do. Like maybe October or even November so only 7S will be available in sept like I said only rumors that I heard. So might not have any to distribute on launch day

If the 7s looks like the 6, 6s, and 7 then I will not upgrade. I have had all three. I know that each one has better specs than the previous generation but I would like a new design. I am sure the 8 will have said new design but if the 8 were to cost a lot more than the 7s and the 7s retains the same aesthetics of the previous three generations then I am not going to go for the 7s. Just my own personal preference.

I plan on pre-ordering, but I have a feeling it's going to be one of those years where I'm going to receive it later than sooner. I actually will trade in my 7+ when I do receive the new iPhone, but until then, I really do like my 7+ and plan on using it until as long as possible. So I don't necessarily need the new iPhone in my hands on Launch day.

Not interested in an OLED screen, can’t stand the PWM flicker dimming on the Samsung panels. OLED is certainly impressive for video content, but I don’t watch videos on my phone.
