I noticed that various sources stated that ipX is known to work excellent with AR, but how about plus and 8? Are those lower tiers be able to handle AR smoothly?

Just because it runs a11, doesn't mean it will be responsive as ipx.
Well, yeah, but the A9 ain't no slouch, either. Browse around Twitter for #ARKit and #Madewitharkit or check some developer forums.

(tbh, MacRumors is mostly a whinefest for spoiled brats these days; good info is rare to nonexistent)

iPhone 8 is running the same chip as the X.
Even then, it shouldn't affect AR, right? Regardless of the model(s)?

As of late, I haven't seen any good info regardless of "whinefest."

Does anyone know if the clock speeds of the A11 chip in the iPhone X the same or faster than the A11 chip in the iPhone 8?

Everything processor-related is identical between X, 8, and 8+. Yes, that includes clock speed.

From my understanding the AR functionality is only good up to the 6s series. Sorry 6 and below

I still read it as “6S and newer”, and the SE is largely equivalent to the 6S.

So, here’s Zombie Gunship: Revanant on my kitchen counter via my iPhone SE. Yup, that’s a bottle of prune juice:

Oh so it works with se??! Cool

Sure seems like it. This game is one of Apple’s featured AR games, plus it’s a freemium title, so I figured it’d be worth a try.

I’d like to see how the IKEA app runs when they add virtual furniture placement.

I think it’s taking the ceiling light into account, too. I’ll go try it in a darker room.

[adding on]
I think the game devs added lighting. It looks cartoony and not gritty-realistic, but the reflections on the dragon are different between these perspectives.

Funnily enough, the 8 Plus may actually technically render AR content better than the X, because it apparently has the same RAM and processor yet less pixels to push to. This is reflected in the slightly higher Geekbench score of the 8 Plus over the X.

In reality though, there will be essentially no discernible difference between the 8 series and the X in AR capability.

For what reason do you doubt X will run AR differently from 8 even though both are using the same A11 CPU?

Actually, no, you should buy the X, and you need to buy the top model with 256GB storage. I heard AR not only requires A11 CPU, but it also needs OLED screen and minimum 256GB storage to run well......
