I just bought iPhone 5 for full price, it says on receipt no service activated. Does that mean its factory unlocked?

Stick a different SIM in it and find out?

Did you get that from an Apple Store of an ATT store? I'd heard that Apple stores were only doing contract sales today?

I don have a different sim :(

hi. plug it into itunes, it should give a "congratulations" message stating that your phone is unlocked. that is proof enough that it is.

I'm pretty sure this is right for the AT&T models. Would be intrigued to know if it's the case for Verizon models. Apple Store aren't budging and are toeing the official line: that all "no commitment" phones are carrier locked...

I can confirm, device only att iPhone 5 is unlocked, I got the congratulations message

If these sites are legit (no idea if they are), if someone with a "no commitment" Verizon iPhone could please try this and report the results I would be very, very grateful.

Yes legit! Everytime i make an unlock thru att this is where i go to check the status!

Awesome, all we need is Verizon device confirmation...

Im sure verizon and sprint are not same as last year with the 4s!

I got the AT&T 16GB at full price of $649, but don't have nano stupid sim to see if my T-Mobile will work in it.

Any idea how to convert your T-Mobile micro sim to Nano?

Thanks

You shouldn't need a t-mobile nano sim to test... just put your IMEI code in at iphoneox.com and let us know if it says unlocked or not.

US based att iphones purchased as device only here.

One site says SIM LOCK: LOCKED
One site says SIM LOCK : UNKNOWN

I think both those sites are bs

I can vouch for iphoneox.com, I checked a phone before unlocking, and it said locked... then I checked it after submitting the IMEI for unlocking and it told me that it was now unlocked (on a iPhone4). so, completely accurate for me, who knows for iphone5.

just plug the phone tu itunes... if you get the "congratulations, its unlocked" message then thats it

Can someone plug one of these ATT device only purchases into itunes and let us know if you see congratulations.
