Jobs might be "mean" when it comes to Charity but there isn't a requirement to give your money away just because your rich.

And he work in the computer world has nothing to do with this, and I respect him for his leading and computer skills

My MBP is an orphan and needs an iPhone for a brother. If any of you can spare one, IM me and I'll make up a real believable sob story so you can feel better about yourself. :D

Try Mongolia and now Cuba. Yeah, I can't afford a an iphone nor will the Cubalse allow its use in Havana.
Seems that the Woz, does not respect Jobs either.
Oh and if you were to look up the greatest Charity givers, they would not be in the Computer business. But, with all of that coin, and the diminishing middle class some see that they can make a positive change.

The real question is how much was Bill donating to charity before Melinda came along.

Indeed.

I don't give much thought to how a company's employees spend their money when I think about which company and products I prefer. From everything I hear about Jobs he is a real ass. I do consider the ethics of the company, but not its employees.

Thats said, people who praise Bill for his philanthropy really need to do some research. A good jumping off point might be this newspaper article.

I wish I lived in Majestic too!
Dude get off the pipe, you need to be registered to read the article. What is the gist? Is he money laundering?

I seem to be able to read without registering - maybe it does that based on region or something.

Basically it says that "the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which, according to the LA Times investigative piece just published, has invested in corporations that fouled the nests of the very people the Foundation's work intends to benefit."

So the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundations spends 5% on charity and the other 95% investing for profit in businesses often (the majority of the investments in fact) responsible for the problems in the first place. They could do a lot more good simply by investing responsibly and doing no charity rather than funding companies causing the problems.
