Yeah, just noticed gmail is down. I'm betting something changed on their end and it has to filter out to everyone's DNS servers.

For those of you that can't get to Google, try http://216.239.57.104

The link above gets me to Google, but when I type www.google.com in my browser I get directed to SOGO search. WTF?

That seals it - I definitely think it's a DNS attack/poisoning of some sort. Google isn't down, some people are just having problems finding it.

For me, MRoogle works fine, but it probably won't do a search if you can't get to Google.

I think that someone is definately screwing with Google, though I can still get everything to come up. Google.com, Google.co.uk, MRoogle, the whole enchilada. Kinda wierd...

Google Images is down, too!

Hooollly ****!

This will make headlines!

Edit 1: Google Images is truly down, even if you go the IP route.
Edit 2: Oh, but www.google.com works fine for me.
Edit 3: My DNS servers are from Roadrunner... should I share them?

Oh my GOD. Raise the terror alert to Pastel Peach! Holy ****. This can't HAPPEN. It just CAN'T.

Have Congress convene for an emergency session. WOW. This is like... not fathomable. I can't believe it. No. NO.

Google is working fine here (but was down about ten minutes ago), but Gmail is still not working. Same for my friend in NYC.

Pushing me closer to a .Mac account...

I'm still getting directed to SOGOsearch. Anyone else? It happens in both Safari and IE.

What are your DNS servers?

24.25.195.2
24.25.195.3

Those are mine, and seem to work.

I've been having the same prob.

What ISP is everyone using? I'm with SoCal RoadRunner....

Google being down is likely to mean bigger problems elsewhere online...

It's equivalent to when the BBC news site goes down; you know there must be something major going on somewhere in the world that everyone's trying to find out about. Last time I recall the BBC server being overburdened was on 9/11

Having said that, it's up here. And thanks for the auto-address for the normal .com site. I hate that they redirect me to .co.uk (and they do the same for google maps which drives me potty). If I wanted the UK site, I'd have put it in or put UK into my search terms. One reason why I'm quite happy that the Safari Google link isn't customisable!

But Google is back.....

I didn't have any DNS servers specified in my network settings. I manually entered the ones you're using, and everything is back to normal.

It was down so that they could update the graphics :p

Thats only in NZ...

Google works here fine... I love google - the day it dies the entire internet should be shut down for that one day with a message, "RIP Google"
