Is Grandfathered unlimited data still worth keeping?

This is exactly correct. For a single line it's going to be $90 with autopay plus taxes and fees. Also, if you buy a phone on a next plan you have to add that to the price as well.

As for getting throttled, when I switched I used 100+ gigs for 4 months to see what would happen and I was fine. It will only happen in very limited situations I imagine. Don't be scared to switch. It's either going to cost the same for more, or less if you went with the choice (I personally wouldn't though)

I have had unlimited data on my iPhone with AT&T since 2007. Every time I call AT&T for anything they are constantly trying to get me to get off my current unlimited plan to go to one of their "new" cheaper plans.

I know they have gone up on unlimited data from $20mth to I think $40 now. I avg around 12gb/mth in data right now. AT&T keeps trying to sell me on going to their unlimited everything plan and saving money monthly but I think I'm throttled in speeds after using so many gb???

Anybody else still have unlimited data and plan on keeping it still?

I don't really stream outside of being on wifi, however I could see it getting old when I travel to be limited to 420p on the choice plan. And the Choice plan is a good bit cheaper than what I pay now. I have only hit 20gb/mth a couple of times over the years so being throttled likely won't be an issue on either of these unlimited plans.

Sorry I'm a novice here, these are my last questions:

1. What features does the Plus offer that I don't already have? Hotspot-which I don't need and HBO which I already have HBOGO?

2. Can I get the $5/mth reduction on my current plan now by doing the auto pay/paperless?

1) the big thing is that if you’re considering going up in minutes, if AT&T will still offer the 900 mins, that plan is a $20 increase, not $5. Therefor it’s cheaper to just go with the new plus plan because you won’t pay more than you are now and you’ll have unlimited. Otherwise you’ll get exactly what you get now plus the hotspot and international perks (assuming autopay/paperless).

Basically there would no no disadvantage of the new plan compared to your current, you’d gain unlimited minutes and other features with a $0 increase.

The only reason I would have recommended staying on the current plan is if you had a large employee discount that made the old plan cheaper than the new.

It wasn’t until this year that it made a whole lot of sense for people with the grandfathered plans to move off.

yeah that's why I hesitated once I read up on it myself. I figured ATT was selling me on dropping the unlimited data years ago when it didn't benefit me so I didn't trust that the plans were actually better now.

Looks like I will be switching soon to that $90 Plus plan.

With Verizon it was not worth keeping. We had 1 gUDP and they kept raising the price. The new UDP included tethering and we could add more lines to have unlimited data. Switching actually saved us 10 bucks a month with more unlimited data plans.

I would try to keep it for now. Unlimited data will probably go away again once 5G is released and everyone streaming video congest the network. By then every plan might be subject to throttling.

[doublepost=1509404389][/doublepost]I’m not sure if that is true. I switched to att unlimited plus, and my 4th month payment reinstated my fan discount. You may want to verify. Additionally, the new unlimited plus plan has unlimited texts which my original plan didn’t have. I also like the 10gog hotspot—no longer need to carry a separate plan for a hotspot device or rely on public WiFi.

Before I switched to Tmobile, I would've went with the newer unlimited plans. There's tethering with the new plans and you see the discount when you bring your own device (IUP).

Personally I say no. I have simple mobile (T-mobile towers and I get speeds right at 20 mbps), and I pay $37.50 a month for unlimited. There are so many prepaid carriers that to me it makes no sense.
