From what I read the Sudden Motion Sensor can be disabled.

Is it a good idea to buy a WD hard drive with motion sensor and then disable the Sudden Motion Sensor?

No reason I know of - the one without is cheaper, and you don't have to mess with pmset to disable the Mac's sensor.

Partitioned hard drives

Hey folks,
I recently had a big crash when trying to install windows. I had to reboot the entire computer but it installed everything on boot camp! How do i get it all back to my original hard drive. Also my computer seems to be overheating after the big crash, is this a problem?
Many thanks, Luke.

regarding the thread title:

Im having a hard time understanding. I hope i didnt brain my damage. :p

I vote for the WD Scorpio Black 7200rpm 320gb. kinda loud but its fast and roomy.

Ive heard good things about the scorpio blue 500gb drive and the seagate 7200rpm 500gb drive thats been hard to find lately

Mine's virtually silent. (in new UB 17" MBP)

I thought about the 7200 500GB, but didn't really need that much space and - can't find them.

i think its relative. im a guy who thinks stock 5400 rpm drives are annoying.

the 7200rpm wasnt that loud. just loud enough for me to notice

I would have to agree. I have about 300 GB taken up on my 5k 500GB drive now. And it isn't loud, but it beeps every now and then.

I got it for $99 even free shipping, so I got that over the $139 7k 500GB from New Egg at that time.
