I use iPhone hotspot feature almost daily. It worked fine before I updated iOS to 13.

Now, it connects correctly and works well for several seconds and then it drops. When I connect again, it works. After a bit of research I see that doesn't seem to be a known bug. Does anyone experience the same thing?

I'm experiencing this issue as well, despite it working properly in the past few days. Today, it's decided that it'll only connect to the hotspot for a moment before disconnecting again. Changing names and restarting hasn't helped though.

Maybe iOS 13.1 will resolve it 🤷‍♂️
I experienced that a few times too after changing the name. What's weird though is that sometimes it does still work, despite the icon on macOS saying it's disconnected.

Mine is the same after update to iOS13.

Works perfectly over USB connection but via Wifi with my iMac it connects for a few seconds then drops connection. Wierdly, with my MacBook Pro with runs an older OS is works perfectly??

I am having the same issue on my macbook pro 15 2015 Mojave. The hotspot works great if connecting to another ios device like iphone or ipad. I tried my wife's iphone on ios 12 and this doesnt happen. Same here works perfect wired. I am using an Iphone 7 plus

Stupid question, But have you guys turned off your Wifi in settings, then enable hotspot? Should work then.

Tried all that but makes no difference. 😡

The issue is not a problem connecting but more staying connected.

I have trouble even connecting. Same in 13 and 13.1

There are so many important things wrong with iOS13 - has to be the worst iOS update ever.

However, at least they made the animal emojis more anatomically correct. 😒

I have been regularly hotspotting between my iPhone and iPad since iOS 13.0 PB4 without any issues. You can try resetting your network settings on both devices or, if you have time and energy, reinstall iOS 13.1 from scratch. IMO, this is very handy if you ran any betas on it.

Under normal conditions, WiFi should be turned off automatically when we enable the hotspot.

Is there any update about that problem? I installed 13.1, but it still happens. Sometimes it works just fine, but at other times is disconnects me after about 5 seconds (and it works fine for these 5 seconds). It looks like it prefers to join other networks even if we explicitly selected to connect to our hotspot. I don't think it ever disconnects in places where we don't have any other trusted networks. My thoughts for now.

I'm having the same troubles as well, disconnection after 3/4 seconds and switching to a different network. I'm running on IOS 13.1.3 and it still happens, very frustrating problem. Anyone still having the same troubles?
