I am going to get a new tablet tomorrow and it will either be the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 or the Ipad Air 2!

I know the Air 2 is nearly a year old now and there won't be a Air 3 untill next year.

I want to know if the Ipad Air 2 still worth it even tho it is nearlly 1 year old now and how is the Air 2's performance on IOS 9???

And is the Ipad Air 2 better than the new Samaung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7???

Thanks!! :)

Heck yes its worth it. And probably less expensive than the S2 9.7.

Really depends which OS you prefer. The S2 9.7 looks pretty sweet with that amoled screen.

Very much worth it. I just picked one up a couple days ago. Make sure you check out staples for a great deal on them right now. The life of this iPad should be great considering it has 2gb of ram with a triple core a8x. It's a year old and still the top performing, by a good margin, iPad until the iPad pro coming up.

It's more powerful than the iPad Mini 4 in my hands now. What I'm using is fast beyond belief. So, yes, the Air will be worth it imo.
It's all up to what you want and how vested you are in either system. For now, I'm sticking with Apple, but that's just me.

Why are you trying to get rid of your Galaxy Tab S? and get a Ipad!??
I like it and all. Just doesn't have all the functionalities I am looking to use with school. I like taking my notes on it but with a stylus and whatnot it isn't the best, which apples iPads are much better for, having had one in the past.

The Tab s is a train wreck. So many issues. I had three of them over the last 6 months. Horrible battery life. Even with battery saver on, and the screen at 35%, none of my Galaxy Tab s could surf the web for more than 5 hours. The new Tab S2 is even worse with a smaller battery. The TabS was slow and stutters when scrolling with lollipop and there were numerous glitches that would pop up. He would also get very hot when trying to do any multitasking or put it under any kind of load. My wife couldn't stand her Tab S I purchased for her and ended up going back to her iPad 2 because it was smoother and faster, so what does that tell you.

The Air 2 is in a completely different league speed and performance wise. The only redeeming quality with the Samsung is the screen. It's beautiful but it is a power hog (especially with when white pixels are required.) I found out that the Tab S is essentially a flashy car with a small motor and a small gas tank with great performance specs on the window sticker.

I would put a Air 1 against any Galaxy in a speed test.

I have a few android tablets as well as many IPads and to be honest the most reliable android tablets has been the Lenovo's.

I am getting 11+ hours on the mini 4 and iPad Air 2 surfing the web, Netflix, screen at 50%, and location services on. Yesterday I surfed the web while pip HULU for a hour and only use 6% power in a hours time. That's incredible for a thin tablet.

IMO.. Personally, I wouldn't pay today's top dollar for yesterday's technology. I would look for some deals, like what Staples was running.

Totally agree with this. At $350, an iPad Air 2 is worth it, but not at full price because you could have bought one almost a year ago for the exact same price (since Apple didn't drop the price or increase the base storage).

As others have said, absolutely worth it now... Especially with the killer Staples deal going on. I got in on one a few days ago... 128GB SG. As much as I enjoy my GTab Pro 8.4 there is no comparison. The Air 2 is dramatically better. Not to mention that with the wide variety of options for covers, cases, and styli, I can create a combo that will suit my needs.

Buy both and return the one you like less. Between the two the Galaxy Tab S2 is more capable and doesn't have the iPad Air 2's screen distortion from holding the back, speaker vibration, LCD lottery, etc. flaws but in the end it depends on your preference.

Are you looking for the newest tablet or the best tablet???
Forget that the tablet was released last year and what it even cost.
.... What other tablet will beat a IPad Air 2 even a year later??? The fact that Apple released the new Mini 4 with the A8 chip kinda cements the iPad Air 2's A8X chip as not being surpassed at least for another year. Buy the Pro if you really must have the latest greatest and fastest.

All the latest Android to iPad comparisons still try to make the new androids look closer to matching the iPad Air 2 but at the end of the comparisons, the iPad Air2 still gets the nod even with it being a year old.

Here is two recent Android Galaxy Tab owners (myself and sracer) telling you there is no comparison to the iPad Air 2....

I really wish there was a iPad equal in the Android world cause I enjoy both platforms.

You have 14 days to return the air 2 to apple...get one and play with it for a couple of weeks. If you decide it is not for you, return it.

It's a easy decision. The Air2 is significantly better than the S.

I bought a tab pro, which I know is a step below the tab s, to try out...and it underperforms.

how do you know that ipad apps are better if you havent ever owned any??

I have android and ipad ... And same apps on both platforms. Not much differences, but clearly some devs bill ios users more with in-apps purchases than in android. And with ios there are several restrictions in apps. Which are better? Depends on apps. Some are better on android, some are better designed to use ipads screen.
