The iPhone 4 and the iPhone series will always be superior to any other phone in the market, both experience and build quality wise, after all, it's the phone that changed everything :p

Absolutely, without question! Other phones are great, but they just aren't as smooth or offer the same all around experience (battery life, quality, etc.).

Personally it's the best for me however I'm fairly certain would say the same thing on a Mac Forum! You'd be better posting this on a neutral phone forum.

Believe it or not, I got very interesting replies and Poll votes.
Most people coming to this forum either have an iPhone, want an iPhone, are considering to get one, or work with one. And I would assume that most of them also have Macs, just like me.
I own an iPad already, and I'm considering whether to get an iPhone or something else. The challenge is getting a good phone that would sync with my iPad and Mac. Android or iOS? WM7 doesn't get my attention.

Thank you all for your feedback so far! :D

Though I don't have mine yet, I can say that I still see the iPhone 4 as the king currently. Hell, even the 3GS is ahead of most of the market, I'd have to say.

It still is the king, but there are other handsets of more or less equal functionality. Namely the Galaxy S, Nexus S from Google, HTC Desire.

Based on your original post and your other post in this thread... you've already made your decision beforehand.

Despite the antenna issue (which I've never actually seen in person), I think the iPhone 4 is still a top competitor for hardware.

Software? iOS needs work. Apple absolutely must fix the Home screen and notifications in iOS 5.0.

What makes the iPhone 4 the king is it's app store, user base and customer support. The actual OS and hardware is average.

But i will give credit to the nice design of the iPhone 4 it looks nice and oozes quality and is thin with a great battery. Just to me the iOS is getting stale it needs a freshining and widgets. And for sure the 3.5" screen is way too small for 2011.

In other words you like the OS and small screen for the battery life.

There are a few phone rumoured to be coming out with:

- 8mp camera, with 1080p video recording.
- Tegra 2 dual core.
- 3D no glasses display.

Before, I would have chosen the iPhone 4, even though it only has an A8 (Apple A4) processor and 5mp with 1080p vr, as the apps and iOS wins me over.

However, phones with 3D no glasses displays wins it over the iPhone, for me. Unless the iPhone 5 has a 3D no glasses display then LG Optimus 3D here I come.

I don't believe in a "best" device because I think people buy what suits them; however, I will say that I can't imagine a day when a company makes a commercial that advertises an Android app without an iOS counterpart.

Conversely, we see companies advertising iOS apps all the time - and most of the time without an Android counterpart. Does this mean anything now? Perhaps. Does it mean anything in the long term? I'm not sure.

I also don't think that the constant iteration on Android actually matters because every user, once they buy a device, is locked into at least a 2 year contract. That's the success of the iPhone, to my mind. Apple understand that you're going to be locked into a device, so they realize that yearly iterations are perfectly acceptable. That's also appealing to users; it's more exciting to own the best phone for a year, as opposed to a week until the next Android device comes out.

Unless you have blinders on, you gotta see that almost every high-end phone that came out in the last 6 months specs out way better than the iPhone hardware-wise, outside of maybe screen pixel density. I don't there is any question on this.

In terms of OS, iPhone is also continuously behind the times in pure functionality, although it is probably still in the lead in ease of use.

The BIG factor that gives the iPhone such as advantage is the app market as well as it's tie in to iTunes and the iTunes store. Nothing else comes close at this point to the quantity / quality of the app store, although this advantages gets smaller by the month. That's why almost ALL of the Apple iPhone commercials and marketing at this time totally focuses on the THIRD PARY APPS that Apple doesn't even develop. It's come to a point where Apple now relies on outside developers to sell there phones, so they only have to be SEMI-current in hardware and OS updates. Think about that a bit.

So it's just a matter of whether the app market, iTunes and pixel density is a greater factor than hardware features / specs and more modern OS's. That's an individual choice.

For me, I stick with the Phone ONLY because I'm so tied into iTunes and the app store. But I do drool over other HTC phones that have much larger screens, better specs and infinate capacity (i.e. microSDHC slot).

However, give me an iPhone with a 4"+ screen and 128 GB capacity and I'd be completely happy. :)
