Yeh, he just kinda blurted out the 2.1 and that was it. Didn't talk about it at all. I thought that was kind of weird.

Today's media event was called "Let's Rock" because it was an iPod/Music event. It was meant to show the new line of iPods and the new functionality in iTunes 8. It really had nothing to do with the iPhone.

As for whether or not iPhone owners are "VIP" customers, who cares? In case you weren't aware, Apple is a giant corporation that doesn't really care all that much about anything but the bottom line, like pretty much every other giant corporation. You like their products, great; buy them. I wouldn't expect special treatment just because you think your product is more special than an iPod sock.

And finally, you have a contract with AT&T, not with Apple.

Well I probably could have afforded a yacht with all the money I've spent with Apple over the last 11 years, but I'm fairly certain Apple couldn't give a sh** about me!

Hahah ... ok ok, I will admit my original message was maybe a bit too much on the :( side. But man, I was just a bit bummed about the Nike+ thing ... and, you know, a bit bored at work. ;)

So yeah, Small White Car nailed it with his list and everyone else is right about this event being about the iPod, not the iPhone. Can't get iPhone juice every time; c'est le truth.

Here's to 2.1!

When iPhone first came out, it was Apple's poster child. But now its a year old, its basically cheap old socks to Apple

The iPhone is still Apple's golden product. If any of you had common sense, you'd realize last year they did the same thing. Didn't talk about much with the iPhone at all, just the iTunes store.

Remember, this is the IPOD EVENT.

I'm getting the impression that the iPhone isn't Apple's crown jewel. I thought we were the "VIPs" of Apple's clientele, but I guess not?

If this is kind of thing that stresses you out, and you "demand" be changed - you guys gotta chill out. It's made and sold by someone else, not you. There's not much you can do other than make a request / suggestion, or buy something else and move on. Or, I guess, get a job there and usurp the decision makers.

I'm not trying to be an "apple apologist" (like I've been accused of) or whatever, but the phone is what it is. What is bitching about it's design decision going to accomplish? What is being righteous about it all about?

Content your superior complex and stop thinking to yourself Apple's supposed to make you feel like a VIP just because you own an iphone. It's just another phone.

Awww ... Orpheus is copying and pasting my stuff! Someone has a crush on me!

too cute.

I think it will be like the iPod and eventually be [read: already is] a large part of their business, but the reason apple is so successful as of late is OS X... Apple has built such a solid OS. I think Mac OS, though is may not always seem like its in the spotlight is what Apple is all about- the rest of the hardware more or less is just a showcase for how powerful and versatile the software is that drives it. Without Mac OS, all you'd have is beautiful hardware running **cough** Windows **cough cough**

All of that said, I think Apple's marquee product is usability and user-friendlyness. :apple:

Apple's 'Crown Jewel' Products:
iPhone
iMac
Macbook Pro

Apple's 'We like you lots' Products:
Mac Pro
Macbook
iPod Touch
iPod Nano

Apple's "Uh...thanks for shopping" Products:
iPod Shuffle
iPod Classic
Macbook Air
Apple TV

Apple's "Just buy it and get the hell out" Products:
Mac Mini
iPod Socks

If we are talking in terms of how much money it earns them then that is completely wrong.

Crown Jewels:
Macbook
iMac (This and the Macbook are the best selling Macs by far).
Macbook Air (can't see how you honestly thought this was bottom of the list, its been one of the best selling items since January).
iPod (any- Highest profit margin of any of there products, 30 bucks to make, sell it for 200, and they sell millions).
Perhaps iPhone in the future.

We like you lots:
Mac Pro
Macbook Pro (very few buy this compared to the Macbook. 10 Macbooks sold for every Macbook Pro at least, good profit margins).
Mac Mini (Again honestly how did you think this would be at the bottom. High Profit margins, although not a best seller).
iPod Socks (10 cents to make, sells for $30, many people buy them).

Uh thanks for shopping/Buy it and get out:
Apple TV (very few sold, tiny profit margins at least in the US)
iTunes Music Store (Apple don't make a sweet dime from this, just enough to cover costs, the iTMS is just there because it sells a lot of iPods).

The iPod and iMac are Apple's flagship products, and the Mac OS of course.
