I've seen/read somewhere that people are like collecting old ipods, which really made me interested in the concept. I'm thinking about starting collecting old Ipods (very aesthetically pleasing lol), especially the small ones (called nano Ipods i think?). Should i do it ? or i'll just end up wasting my time ? Also will they increase in value in the future ?

It's definitely a thing. I can only speak for myself, but I have bit of a fixation on the 4th generation, and I love to use them. I always want more of them, though that's mostly out of fear of components failing and it inevitably being increasingly difficult to find them. But I'm sure everyone has their reasons for wanting to collect all iPods, or just certain ones, as with anything. Not sure about the economics behind value over time.

Where did you read it? I just started collecting two months ago and can definitely say it's a legit thing if you have emotional ties to it growing up.

It would be a mistake to think everything old goes up in value, but it's certainly true that if you collect wisely it can be an investment. I collect old video games and consoles.

A couple of bits of advice if you want to have a chance at investing, make sure things you buy are in as good condition as possible (preferably NOS/unused if you can find them) as they usually appreciate faster. Also make sure they are complete with the box, manuals, cables etc (also in good condition.)

I can't speak for iPods but the difference in value between an old, battered Nintendo and a like-new one can be hundreds of dollars.

Yes, it's legit. It's never too late to start. Just be clear on what your motivations are before embarking on this journey - i.e., if it's a passion for iPods or a desire for an economic gain down the road. Either way, it's still worth it. :)
