I wouldn't buy a used phone period ! At least before they were not waterproof they would usually die and so if fallen down the toilet couldn't be sold on. You never know where your used water proof phone has been these days ! Yuck

I still haven't opened the box for the phone yet because I wanted some input. You think the color red would be sought after since it's a limited color edition?. How much you guys think the resell value would be? If I was to return it, what would be an alternative approach to a new phone? I need a reliable phone.

Return is and get the SE. It is small but it would be most dependable for the cost if buying a new phone.

Why would this be a bad decision. You had a 5c. You skipped the Iphone 6. You skipped the Iphone 6s. You got a new one.

GREAT!

I have a 5s and about to buy a 7 myself. I need a good phone - now. I do not need the newest phone ever in Sept.

I had a 5s and just upgraded to an iphone 7 a few days ago and what a great iphone! The 5s had it mileage and needed to be replaced unfortunately. Great phone too and would have kept it if I could.

As someone said before, going from a 5s or 5c to a iphone 7 is like night and day! I did the same from an iPad 3 to the iPad 2017. Night and day with no buyers remorse.

What I have read about the iphone 8 does not really impress me. I prefer the bezels around the screen and the screen size is good for me. Just because a newer phone comes out doesn't always mean better overall. Plus, rumors are that the iphone 8 will be more expensive also...

I have done some research before making the choice, and I hear nothing but great things about the iphone 7. I am a "S"-er So not waiting for a 7S this time was due to the 6S having some minor issues. My wife had the recall on her battery as an example.

Hello,

I just purchased a red iPhone 7 128gb. I was desperate and I needed a new phone because I'm traveling soon and my current iPhone 5c is unreliable, due to the battery dying very quickly and super slow performance. After purchasing it, I feel like its a waste cause the 8 will come out soon and the resale value for 7 will be worthless if I try and upgrade to the 8. what do you guys think I should do?

You did good You said you needed a new iPhone the current one is the 7 it's look like on 9/2017 a new will come out so what? when you come back from your trip and the new comes out and you like it sell the 7 and buy the new one you can do it every year

I don't understand the dilemma--

You NEEDED a new ipnone and you bought one---

Figure out what you want to do next WHEN another choice is available---:)

How you have sat there with an unopened red iPhone in front of you is beyond me lol I'd have ripped that wrapping off like Rachel Rileys layers!!

Seriously tho, I'm waiting for my red to arrive, it's limited,it's stunning and I could happily use it for 3 years if not longer based on how snappy that thing is compared to my 5C and now recently inherited 5S!

Open that box now, you will not regret it, Touch ID 3D or force touch, quad core proc A10.... need I go on or are you ripping into it right now???

Enjoy your phone. If you bought with no contract , it will be easy to sell because iPhone hold their value. I always sell my phone through craigslist and get the most money out of my devices.

Since you just bought your iPhone that means the iPhone is going to have a whole year of factory warranty therefore it’s an easy sell.

If you were content to hold onto a 5c all this time, why are you suddenly worried about resale value? I agree with others who are saying -- "use and enjoy your new phone."

If you guys think buying an iPhone 7 is a mistake, look at the macrumors buying guide. Says this :

Caution Approaching End of Cycle

  • The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are Apple's newest iPhones, with significant camera improvements, a new glossy black color, better battery life, faster processors, and improved water resistance implemented through a click-less haptic home button and no headphone jack. The new iPhones launched on September 16, 2016. A special edition (PRODUCT)RED color was announced on March 21, 2017.

Will the new iPhone be good, of course, is the iPhone 7 a good phone, of course. So really the question is about you and what you need/want/ can afford. If it were me buying now I would use Apple's upgrade program.

Forgive me, but that is such a silly question, you just can't imagine.....iPhone 7 is a great phone, which you will be using for the next 3 to 4 years without any problems whatsoever and it will be a top performer the whole time.

I have a 6+ still and it has a great phone for almost 3 years now. I take great care of it so that is why it lasted as long as it did.

Now, overtime I go into a best buy I am always checking out the 7+ and wishing I upgraded last fall when they came out. I held back because the design barely changed and didn't feel comfortable dropping $$$ on a processor upgrade, force touch, better camera (now I could have used that, but again the 6+ is fine).

I also almost jumped ship and went with a samsung s8+ because it a beautiful phone, but realized I would be losing i message (important since my family all uses it) and a few other things.

You needed a phone, so you made the right choice. If you love what the 8 offers, just pay off the 7 if possible and put the money towards the 8. I always made great money selling my older iPhones to upgrade.

Not everyone is going to want to put out the big bucks required to get an 8. Me included. There may even be carrier deals for trade ins and such if you wait till the dust settles awhile. Use the red 7 and enjoy a snappy fast and smooth device now and don't worry about projecting to future possibilities that may or may not come as planned or on schedule.

CAUTION; Nearing end of cycle.

That is just a heads up. A caution and not a warning. Buying the current model is not bad. Heck, I know people that just bought a $30,000 car that will be end of cycle in a few months. LOL!
