It is a very serious question and I personally appreciate it. Mechanical watches are worn for three reasons: as a piece of jewelry, for appreciation of watches as a form of art and as a status symbol. I hope this clears out your doubts and you can now understand why the question is pertinent.
Or 4.
To tell the time.

I guess you never lived through the 80s when Swatches were popular and kids wore like 3 at a time.... :)

80's kid here...I remember having about 5 Swatch watches and wearing 2 on the same wrist 😄. Out of nostalgia I went on eBay and searched out the specific ones I had. Course the ones which were in good to excellent or like new condition were crazy expensive (imo). But it was fun to see them again. The official Swatch website even sells a few brand new (they call them "vintage", which makes me feel about 100 years old 😆).

I see lots of youngsters/students around here with a apple watch on one wrist and an old-fashioned LED (usually gold) retro watch on the other so if you wanna be hip.....funny enough almost zero Android.....

why bother with the Apple Watch at all in that case?

I use it for a lot of things. I take screen shots of the time which gives me a .png with the GPS coordinates and time. I then take the GPS tracking data from the Fenix and apply it to photos which don't have GPS metadata, just a timestamp, using any time adjustments that are needed as I compare with the .png. Things get confusing as one changes timezones, so it helps if I do this as soon as I enter a timezone.

I am constantly running timers and alarms.

My infograph screen shows me air quality, current temperature and weather radar and forecast for the week so I can avoid rain and plan for what I will be wearing for the week.

And so on.
