cydia app store is a mess to be honest that is a major put off finding anything is hard work

i jailbreak just to install fakeclockup to make the ipad UI feels faster and 5row keyboard to have numeric keys without having to switch keyboard. it's worth it!!!

True, it is sort of a pain to browse around if you don't know what you are looking for. It does have a search function though. I generally know exactly what I am looking for before I open cydia and then just go to search and find it there.

Don't get me wrong I think the jail breaking is useful for some but is it just me that has no use for it. I jailbreaked and found I did nothing but faff around trying to customise it doing a bad job and achieving nothing. I restored to the way apple intended and I'm perfectly happy I don't find myself needlessly fiddling. Is their anyone like me who just likes it the way apple intended:confused:

I'm not sure I see the point of this thread.

I don't really give a dam if you like jailbreaking, or not, nor does any of the other folks who do understand the benefits of doing this. If you choose not to, great, but don't judge others that do.

The underlining thought running through your comments is your lazy and not at all committed to experimenting and exploring what the device is capable of. "What Apple intended it to be", sounds like you drank some Kool Aid.

My friend, Apple would never have found some of the great new additions your currently enjoying without the jailbreakers of the world who tool the time to figure out some truyl;y innovative ways to navigate and multi-task.

+1...i agree with the 3goldens sentiment that if the OP doesn't feel the need to JB his ipad, then don't. lots of ipad users aren't interested in JB-ing...they're happy to be using the stock iOS but why does the OP feel like they need to announce that?

i don't announce that i was going to JB my ipad, why does someone need to post that they aren't interested in JB-ing.

i wouldn't necessarily agree w/3golfen though that the OP is 'lazy'. those that are interested in finding out what JB-ing should do their research onthe pros and cons to it [as i did] before making a decision to do so. there was a thread this morning where someone JB'd a new ipad that was given to an 8 yr kid and had restore issues - not a wise move on their part.

I love these shameless validation grab posts. As if the vast majority of ipad users are made up of those who jailbreak.

I actually see his point.

You wait and wait and wait and wait AND YOU WAIT for the next JB. Then it's out, you apply it then you search and search for your beloved JB Extensions/Apps. Add sources so that you can find those JB Extensions/Apps. Realize that some of those JB Extensions/Apps don't work with the new iOS. Get pissed about not being able to use those JB Extensions/Apps. Then realize that it's not worth the effort to install 10 sometimes more JB Extensions/Apps just so you can make the screen dim just a little bit more or substitute the iOS App Switcher with another JB Multitasking Extension which might not even work for iOS 5.

YEAH, I wanna do that every time Apple puts out another version of iOS.

And yes, my iDevices are JBed and I go thru the above every time Apple puts out a new version of iOS. But my list of JB Extensions/Apps is slowly shrinking.

And yes it doesn't take 10 extensions to make the screen dim just a little bit more. XD

I jailbroke mine and so far all I have done is install 4 of the apps missing from the ipad :( stocks, weather, clock, and calculator. I will be theming it but to be honest if apple would just add these stock apps I would rather upgrade to ios than have all of the messing. Dont get me wrong ifile is very usefull but I find myself spending way too much time trying to theme it just how I want it rather than just using the thing.

I just JB my ipad yesterday since it's so easy now, but for the most part everything is the same. I just turned off the lock screen since there really isn't any point to it, added SB settings for quick setting changes in app, and installed retinapad so iphone apps don't look like garbage.

The reason I jailbreak, is to add emulators, and other little tweaks(SBSettings, FullForce, RetinaPad, etc). Nothing is absolutely essential for me though.
I've got iMAME4all hooked up to my iCade and I'm totally digging that(full screen in portrait mode, really does take me back the the 1980's arcades :D).
That being said, iOS5 is such an awesome update, that I'll ditch the jailbreak(hopefully temporarily) as soon as iOS5 drops.

EDIT: nvm...found it

I think he is trying to make fun of how the OP's original post was about how jailbreaking is bad/not worth it and is in the iPad hacks section, a section set up primarily for those who jailbreak their iPads.
