I went to that jailbreakme.com website and jailbroke my iphone 4 for the first time ever (i have no experience) its my first iphone and even after watching loads of tutorials and stuff i cant seem to figure out what the hell im doing or what the hell to do, winterboards?snowboards? i dont know!!!

What do you want to do? Ringtones, themes, smstones, apps etc? After you answer that basic question, search for whatever you want to install on Cydia and BAM! its there...

ps it's just you. Cydia is easy after you figure what you want to customize...

Honestly. This is the wrong time to jailbreak, exapeically if your new.. Majority of the apps are compatible either iPhone 4 or even 4.0 yet..So it just adds on stuff that you have to research or figure out how together it to working utility it's updated.. And we used to could tell u what exactly to download. But now apple has added everything we used to jailbreak 4.. Backgrounder was one and now we have multitasking. Winterboard is still good if u want themes

But a must have app for any jailbroken device is bitsms.. I would recommend lock info also..

Why is everyone being so mean to the OP? There's always going to be something a person isn't good at.

OP, I'd recommend just playing around with it. If you don't like it, restore your phone. That's the best advice I can give. I jailbroke first generation awhile back, & I got tired of ****ing around with it after a couple of days, so I restored my phone. It just wasn't my thing. But that's okay. Everyone has their preferences.

it will take a while to understand the add ons and so forth. Its kinda like building an OS from scratch.

My advice is to go to cydia, click on the make my life easy banner. just do that for now, much later topic.
then go to search and look for the app (rockapp).
register and so forth.
when you have an account established look through cydia and rock for certain apps, themes, ring tones and mods. Rock seems to have better review on the apps and such than cydia. look over the review and theywill tell you if its compatible with ios4 or not.
plan on crashing a few times.
its a learning experience and does take time.

but to answer your question it is you. but we were all at the same place as you are not to long ago.

your best best is to visit this site in the iphone hacks section and modmyi.com as well as thebigboss.org, oh yeah iclarified.com has some good tutorials.
