Is it just me or is this forum ass backwards?

Well, I happen to think these forums are great. I've been here every day since I signed up in 2003 and this forum has been great not just for Apple rumours and updates but discussions of all sorts. There have even been times I got my news from this site first (the first I heard of "Balloon Boy" was here, and there is no shortage of links to wacky news stories).
I think everyone agrees that name-calling and being rude should be banned. Nobody seems to have a problem with that... until it happens to them. I got a timeout some time back because I made a sarcastic retort, "Are you 12 years old?" to someone who was using what I felt was immature language. I was rather unhappy about it at the time, but looking back, I posted that remark purely to be biting and I agree that it was uncalled for.
From someone who used to read all sorts of discussions on Usenet, and hated when they derailed into flame wars, I think the mods here do a great job.
