Tbh that's just as often not true as its true. Loads of brands put out cheap tat, often a good reputation allows them to get away with it for a surprisingly long time. Generally good quality does cost more, but paying more certainly doesn't guarantee good quality. But going back to the iPhones, I doubt the quality of the 12 is significantly different to the 12 Pro regardless.
What I bolded was meant to be what the general consensus is of top-shelf "brands".

And I explained it doesn't hold true. A lot of 'premium' brands fall in the category of producing absolute rubbish. This is particularly true in clothing terms for example. Conversely if you go to an artisan producer, they certainly aren't a big brand, but you're far more likely to find products produced to high standards (and likely pay for it).

Don't conflate 'brand name' with 'quality' is my point, they aren't synonyms.

OK, whatever.

I was debating between the regular 12 and the 12pro. After seeing the color choices on the 12, I HAD to go for the 12pro. There is just no comparison. I watched a ton of YouTube video reviews to "justify" the purchase, and camera seems to be the main reason.

There's nothing wrong with making a product look "premium" if you want people to shell out $1000 for a phone. The frosted glass and the stainless steel borders, just look divine. I only upgrade my phone every 4 years or so, so to me, it's worth it. I want to create some beautiful memories with my phone.

As many on this thread have said, those attracted to gold usually want to draw attention to themselves - and to their finery.

So Apple might as well double down on the iPhone’s ‘gold-ness’!

I was hoping that the 12 max version would have functionality similar to ipad: stylus or pencil. I prefer function over looks.

So you can't use the Apple Pencil with it? I thought you could with the 11 version? I never tried but thought it was possible.

I've only seen the graphite and blue in person, and the blue I saw was locked down with Verizon's SECURITY CLAAAAAWWWW with it's 2 inch cable so didn't really even get a good look at it. As with years past, I think the graphite (space gray) has always been the best looking and the new slightly lighter look has grown on me over the past couple of weeks.

Yes, have you noticed that Asians love the gold color for Apple products ??

My wife's gold rMB:

The 12 pro black, blue and gold (to me) looks very-very-very cheap. Like some elements from an old gigabyte motherboard. Cant believe this is a *premium* phone. Cheap. There was no silver/white at the store. I hope it looks better with stainless steel looking LIKE stainless steel.

(The gold one is – no comment.... there is nothing gold-like in it)

For me it was the move back to square. Even in a small iPhone 5 form factor, it wasn't comfortable.

If it stays around, I guess I'll have to consider it eventually but for now I'm sticking with my 11 Pro Max.
My uncle in Germany actually got the 12 Pro, but moved back to his 11 Pro or Pro Max (forget which) because he hated the square sides in-hand.

I know its subjective but for me, I don't like the gold at all. I usually like apple's gold but this one is very 1990's gas station fake watch gold to me.
The Blue is new and just like the green, its nice that apple does something different. I don't like it in any cases, even clear ones and it doesn't scream pro to me.
The white is very very white and silver. I like it, although my experience with polished stainless from apple, is that it doesn't age well. I think its a nice phone though.
I like the graphite the most. it looks a tad lighter than usual graphite or whatever dark grey apple makes. It does feel like its the most pro (fessional) of the pros.
I love how you worded it. Lol. I can picture walking into a gas station where the cheap sunglasses rack is and some cheap fake gold jewelry. 😂

You know having handled cases for 12 pro max it looks about the same size as the xs max but I agree it does seem bigger than it actually is but this design will be here for a while at least 3 years or more, and I need a better camera and my battery life is horrible Lol. So yah I’m taking the plunge.

I remember how so many people liked the rounded edges more than the square when it came out. I am worried that I won't like the squared off edges.

they do! I'm loving it though. even the graphite model is very shiny compared to space gray 11 pro.

I love my 12 Pro Gold and find the color very subtitling and not in your face at all.
Sure the sides are gold, but I find it no different if the sides were silver, especially since I like white gold.

Also, I keep my phone to myself or rarely pull it out when in public. Who would know you have the phone unless you're purposely trying to be seen?

I'm still waiting for my 12pro gold to be shipped to me. I've seen the phone in person, so I know it's a subtle beige color with the gold rim. I think the whole 12pro series have been beautifully designed and executed, and has an overall understated elegance. I don't think anyone would bat an eye if you pull out your brand new iPhone.

I wouldn’t upgrade if I had an 11 pro max. You have superior battery life and slightly less performance camera wise compared to the 12. It’s a step up for me and my xs max.
