Battery is pretty darn good for me! I was telling one of my friends about it. Maybe it was a good idea that Apple didn't come out with LTE last year. The battery life would probably been horrendous. Also, I set up as a new phone and not from a backup. New phone = New Start

I restored mine from my iPhone 4 because i wanted my old messages. I think im going to have to set it as new.

I'm pissed everyone is saying they have awesome battery. I came from an iPhone 4 and my battery would last from 7AM till 11PM easily, doing Facebook/twitter/texting throughout the day.

I get this iPhone 5, fully charged at 7AM, its now 10:30AM and its at 65%. Wtf gives.

Did you restore from a previous backup?

On vzw, I went from 100-82 in just 30 minutes using GPS and iheart radio. About as bad as my gnex. Was using LTE the entire time. Not sure if it should drain that quick.

Never do a restore from an old device. Restores keep old settings etc.
My iPhone 5 finally died off with 20+ hours of standby and 7-8.5 hours of usage time. That was part of my calibration

But I have so many apps that I have set up a lot of folders. Also I want to keep my bookmarks, whatsapp history, etc.

great battery life for me as well

dont have stats from yesterday
but from even today 3 hours 30 min stand by and hour and 21 min usage and im at 89%. Very happy with it so far. Thats with all push enabled and auto brightness (wish it had a slider or something in notifications like my old androids tho, hate going all the way into settings to adjust brightness)

You haven't restored anything from backup?

As a follow-up to my above post, today will be more of a test. I'm in NYC with great AT&T LTE coverage and I did actually restore from my iPhone 4S backup; that backup, though, was created after I had done a fresh install of iOS 6 on that phone about 2 weeks ago. I do agree, the best way to optimize a device is to do a fresh start.

But so far, it seems fantastic.

My battery is sucking.

Full charge at 4:30am, 48% at 7:55. I've done nothing but read online. I'm coming from an iPhone 4. All I've heard is people raving about battery life. This stinks.

I have AT&T, 4G turned off, push and location services are the same as iPhone 4.

I immediately charged it for 4 hours after opening the box. I restored from iCloud backup. I let it drain until it shut off. Then let it charge until at 100%.

I'm going to let it drain until 0 again and then recharge to 100%.

I'll keep researching and if I have to I'll restore as new.

I did a restore from my 4s that was on iOS 6 too. I don't think that's making an impact on battery life versus if I would have set it up new

Mine was at 99% last night at 10:00 PM. At 8:00AM this morning it was 94%. I think I am doing OK.

Have you been reading online since 4:30? If so, that's decent life. That's 3.5 hours of usage.

turn crap off. You don't need bluetooth, wifi, and gps on all the time.

The thing is if we shouldn't have to turn those off. I have bluetooth in my car and wifi in the house. I don't want to keep having to scroll through a bunch of menus and submenus to toggle them on and off every time (whole other issue). The point is, I had all of these running on my 4 without a battery issue. I didn't do a restore when I set up my 5, and I'm having battery issues.

I don't know how much of an impact this may have had, but I didn't let it drain out of the box. I charged it full. I'll let it drain today and then recharge it. Hopefully this helps.

Yesterday my battery was pathetic, but I let it drain last night and kept it charging overnight and it's much better today. Been off the charger about an hour and a half with some light wi-fi usage (checking email, making a few posts to twitter) and I'm still showing 100%.

I backed up my iPhone from my old iPhone 4's settings, so that probably has something to do with it, but just as a data point, my phone had 98% battery life at 12 midnight, and I woke up to 57% battery life at 10 AM today.

- LTE and WIFI on
- Bluetooth off
- Received maybe 3 text messages while asleep
- No phone calls

in my six hours of sleep, the phone dropped from 100% to 82%. 3%/hour seems a bit steep for me; the 4s would have dropped a total of maybe 1 or 2% in that same time. i set the phone up as new. it's a bit of a bummer considering everything else about the phone is so awesome.
