To be honest, I can't see any reason why you'd take the current MBA over this PC except for an aversion to Windows.
Which is the reason we all go Apple to begin with; to get away from Windows, and that's still the best reason.

Exactly, and then there is the software investment etc...What an odd thing to say. I'm not saying that Dell doesn't look wonderful, but to just switch for that is a bit strange unless you really wanted to switch operating systems and all your software.

You would be surprised by how many people buy Macbooks who don't use it for anything more taxing or complicated than what can be accomplished with a Chromebook or tablet.

Web browser, productivity suite, mail.

This is why there are more than a few people who have said that once they bought an iPad or iPad mini, their Macbook sits collecting dust.

But for those who made a deliberate decision of OSX over Windows, you are both correct. That's just at the application level. There are also operating system differences that would make switching from OSX to Windows problematic.

Well it's definitely not the worst but it is pretty bad. However you wouldn't really know if you are a user of it so it could be a mini paradox. I was using a MBA up until last year and I loved it. Then I got a retina and I had to sit down and ask myself why I would use a fuzzy screen on the MBA for as long as I did

Of course when you move between one screen to another, all the differences are immediately noticeable. You have to give yourself some time to adjust. If you went back to using a MBA then I'm sure you'd be used to it after a couple days and wouldn't notice how "bad" the screen is, unless you work in graphic design and need colors to be accurate. (In which case, the MBA has kinda crap reds.)

Definitely bad. 2013 13" Air. I could get this for 900€ or a baseline rMBP for 1200€. I'd choose this again because the rMBP was the same or worse in every other aspect, but I'd love a better screen. Also a stronger hinge, this one wobbles on touch.

Recently chose the 2014 13" Air over the 13" MBP. Used them both side by side so I get the goodness of retina. I have a Samsung panel on my Air, it is almost the same as the Samsung panel on my Thinkpad T430s, it is by no means bad. There are no comparable laptops (other than the rMBP of course) that offer a 16:10 screen with the form factor, build quality, battery life, and touch pad of the Air. None. I am not counting the Surface Pro 3, which is still better than the typical 16:9 crap found in most laptops today. I have no need for HiDPI on a laptop and would buy the Air all over again today.
